“Loved this place”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 17, 2010

This was my first trip to Scotland and I simply loved this place thanks to this excellent hotel. I had short training session in this hotel and it went very well. The stay was very comfortable. I could go for a walk to the city centre very easily from here. The golf course was just next door.

Stayed here for 3 nights in June 2010. Great hotel, great location and pleasant staff.
One problem - although the hotel has been refurbished - they forgot to update their very, very squeeky floorboards. So, if like us, you had guests in the room above doing a sponsored walk from midnight to 4:00am, it can be a little noisy.

If you stay here, ask for a first floor room, or bring heavy duty ear defenders. Normal ear plugs are sound proof enough (We know, we tried!!)

Thank you for your guest feedback.

I am glad that you enjoyed the hotel. i was sorry to hear you were disturbed by the guests in the floor above you. I believe that due to the comings and goings of the individuals to there midnight sponsored walk was the cause and again there return some 3 hours later. This is not usual behaviou during any other night. I do respect that was what you heard on that particular night. - sorry.

We stayed here for a wedding being held at the hotel. We stayed in a garden room.
At first we thought we had taken the wrong turn and were walking down to a laundry area or staff quarters. Each person staying in this wing were of the same opinion. The condition of hallways enroute to our room were well below what you would expect of a 4 star hotel, this was more like a 2 star wing! Dirty and very poorly maintained. The bathroom in our room was dirty, the shower leaked a lot of water on the floor, which was dangerous and the shower tiles and grout disgustingly mouldy.
Lovely view to the garden, however, this area was dusty and large cobwebs hung around the window and sitting area, curtains not properly hooked.
I happened to visit another room on the other side of the hotel, it was lovely, I would have given it a 4 star rating, but we were charged the same rate. We complained upon check out, but receptionist choose to do nothing about it except offer us to complete a customer feedback form 'in the hope that our feedback would help encourage action to be taken with regards to the quality of this wing'.
In my opinion, you cannot charge the same rates for 2 very different standards of rooms. I have read another response to a similar story to ours, whereby the manager has stated this wing is still to be modernised. Until then, these rooms should not be offered at all, but at last be reduced to reflect the lack of quality and cleanliness.

Thank you for your guest feedback.

I appreciate your feedback, the garden rooms are due to be refurbished at the end of this year. Since the ownership changed in this hotel, in Nov 2007 the new owners have been continually investing in the property which is very much appreciated, with stunning results. Not all of the investment can happen at once and hence why this section is next to receive a refurbishment. I would challenge the cleanliness being mistaken for condition.

The hotel currently has 5 different room types; garden or standard, classic, deluxe, cacoon, retreat. the garden rooms described are are our starting prices and ther is indeed for other upgrade options above this level.

Kind Regards

Had a fantastic special birthday week-end with my family.
The amenities catered for all ages and I think we used them all. Staff were very helpful and considerate, all our requests were dealt with efficiently without any fuss.Instead of eating in the formal dining room with lots of young children in our party we opted to eat in the conservatory, so we could keep an eye on them playing in the garden when they had finished their meal.It was an enclosed space so very safe. Food was excellent . Bedrooms were spacious and spotlessly clean.Relaxed atmosphere.
Hopefully all fifteen of us will return soon.

This hotel was fabulous from check -in to check-out . We had a garden room on 1st floor , room was a large room with large bathroom, which had shower and seperate shower.Restaurant food was of a high standard with local produce on offer.
Bar staff were friendly and they also could make a decent pimms.
the only slight critism we had was at breakfast we had a very small table and some of the breakfast staff were undergoing training so a bit slow on clearing tables down , but this did not spoil our overall dining experience .

Always love staying at Kingsmills. Now stayed twice at new Kingsclub, business once then leisure trip with husband, both occasions best experience to date after many years of travel, particularly in Scotland on business. Staff really do go that extra mile. Luxury beds cocoon you to sleep, delicious breakfasts and warmth of staff ensure return visits. Well done Craig Ewan. You have an instinctive knowledge of how to deliver all that makes your customers feel special, whether on business or leisure.

Just back from a weekend at the Kingsmills. We have a 7 week old baby and a 2 year old and travelled as part of a family celebration with 15 of us in total. The hotel was excellent and staff welcoming and courteous. We eat in the conservatory area and enjoyed a fine meal in beautiful surroundings. We made use of the patio area out the back which looked out onto well tended gardens with a small pitch and putt area to keep the older kids happy. The pool area is small but warm and features a great jazzuzi, steam room and sauna. Our room was great, bigger than average with a huge bed. Definitely worth a visit.
