“great hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 11, 2008

Visitng Inverness on business we have just spent two nights at the Kingsmills Hotel . This was our second visit to the hotel - the first one was OK, but the second one was highly worth praise. Our room was very comfy and well equipped. The real surprise was the updated menu. First visit the menu was a bit dated - more like pub grub of 10 years ago. This time we were treated to some very beautifully presented dishes that were up to date with modern dining. Staff were all pleasant, friendly and helpful. All in all a great expereince - we will return!

Booked this hotel through laterooms. It was lovely. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the rooms were large and comfortable. It takes about 15 minutes to walk into town. If you are driving there is plenty of parking at the hotel. Breakfast was excellent with plenty of choice, and the dining room and lounges were very good. The hotel has very well tended gardens and a great leisure club. I would definately highly recommend this hotel, and hope to visit it again.

This stay was part of our honeymoon in Oct. 2008.
The staff was very friendly and we got a great room. The bed was huge and it was the most comfortable night in a hotel bed ever.
There was this fluffy, thick carpet in the whole hotel and also in our room, which was sooo comfortable.
The restaurant was excellent, altough the waiter could have been a bit happier.

The service, comfort and superb menu made this a memorable experience. Where does one start? For the gymn, swimming pool and jacuzzi one could not wish for better facilities. Our room was exceedingly comfortable and my wife considered the matress so restful that she peeked at the maker's name in order to purchase the same quality! The restaurant varied from traditional food to nouveau cuisine, indeed a wide choice and the ambience with the excellent staff added to our pleasure. A must for a return as it was certainly a high point in our visit to the Highlands.

This hotel looks the part, set in nice grounds, big white stately looking building. The reception area is a classic high-end lobby. Staff were excellent, polite and helpful- checking in was quick and painless. The room was ample, nice size, well kitted out, great bathroom. View a little poor but generally a good room. The leisure club is nice, a little busy with the usual 'local members' and their kids around 4ish but w nice pool, sauna and spa. The food was great for the evening meal- again, staff brilliantly helpful. The bar area was open and welcoming with a nice baby-grand piano in the corner- and this was during a major refurb of their restaurant- really impressive! Breakfast was pleasant in the conservatory. So...why the low review? Well, I have come to expect in hotels of a higher-end and cost to have certain 'standards'. Good room, good staff, good food, nice leisure, uh-huh, all of this, and also internet. INTERNET YOU SAY!!? HOW MUCH?!! They are having a laugh in there- £4.95 for an hour! Seriously this is a joke, if a hotel of this nature cannot provide complimentary internet then what is the point- i am not going back until they do. I had tea, coffee, biscuits, a newspaper, toiletries- but I would stick it all for the internet! Their retro TV screen in the room says "Going above and beyond"- well, in terms of modern facilities they are below and behind. Even if the price was reasonable I could cope, this is dreadful. They should fix it or start charging for showers, towels and toilet paper- internet is no longer a 'special service'.

Wonderful stately hotel set within beautiful mature grounds and within easy walking distance of the town centre.

The rooms were beautifully spacious with all the mod cons one might expect in a 5 star property and huge comfortable beds with bedding and pillows galore!

All the staff (without exception) were dedicated to ensuring our time spent there was as pleasurable and comfortable as possible and the food, wine, pool and spa all combined to make our stay a luxurious and memorable one.

I will certainly return to this town - to this hotel!

We stayed at the Kingsmill for 3 nights as part of our holiday touring the Highlands.

About a mile from the town centre, it's conveniant for both Inverness Airport and exploring Loch Ness (about 20 minutes away).

From the moment we checked in, all the staff were extremley polite and very helpful. One of the young ladies on reception very kindly booked our Loch Ness cruise (2 hours including visit to Urquhart Castle).

We had a deluxe room which had a very large king bed and an additonal fold-up bed for our 13 year old. The shower was very good and likewise the bath. Fridge in room and good coffee/tea making facilities with biscuits.

Leisure Club was excellent including pool, gym and sauna and grounds of hotel are lovely to walk round.

Breakfast was good with a varied selection and the food in the bar area was also of a high standard, although perhaps just a little pricey.

We will definatley return to the Kingsmill when we come back to Scotland again.
