I stayed at the Kingsmill for 3 nights earlier this week as I was on business in the area.
For personal travel I always reference possible hotel options against the posted Tripadvisor ratings before making a booking but on this occasion my hotel choice was limited to a shortlist provided by my company as they had pre-agreed preferential rates.
This hotel was formerly part of the Marriott chain so I was expecting reasonably high standards and I wasn't disappointed.
My room, (room 8 on the first floor) was large, clean and contained all the facilities I expected - (cable TV, safe, Internet access point, tea/coffee making facilities, iron and ironing board, hairdryer) and looked out over a quiet car park.
Free regional newspapers were also left outside your room each morning which was a nice touch.
I have read a number of other reviews but I ate breakfast 3 times, 2 meals in the main restaurant and 1 in the bar area and all the food I had was excellent - fresh ingredients, well cooked and presented. The prices were also what I would expect to pay in a 4 star hotel restaurant....i.e. £9.00 for a really excellent and filling fish and chips.
I didn't have a chance to check out any of the sports facilities but they were on offer and included within the room price.
All staff I met were friendly and efficient and it was clear to see they worked hard to maintain the hotel standards and keep the guests happy.
If I had to be critical I'd comment that some of the general areas of the hotel are a little passed their best in terms of design and wear and tear and a couple of the towels I had in my room, although all very clean, were reaching the end of their life as they were getting thin and somewhat ragged.
Overall though I have no complaints and would be happy to stay their again, although probably out of season like this time when it's nice and quiet.
