“An amazing day!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 15, 2013

We had the Best tour ever! We can't thank Hugh Allison enough for making this trip the way he did, customized it totally for us and my special needs (I'm in a wheelchair).

We all loved his story-telling-skills, he is so interesting to listen to and he know So Much! And even though we was on the Outlander-tour (and me beeing the only one reading the books), he really made it interesting to all of us!

This is going to stay with all four of us for a Very, very long time! It was almost sad to say goodbye after 9 hours together!

I really can't express our gratitude enough! From the bottom of my heart, Thank you Hugh!

“Wonderful Tour of Loch Ness and Inverness areas”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 14, 2013

On a recent British Isles cruise, my companions and I had the pleasure - and privilege - of taking an all day private tour of the Loch Ness, Invergordon, Inverness area with Hugh Alison of Inverness Tours. Hugh was the best and most knowledgeable of all the guides we had in various parts of the British Isles. He tailored the itinerary to our wishes, and we were able to enjoy a trip on Loch Ness, a tour of Castle Urquhart (an amazing place), a stop in Fort Augustus to enjoy lunch next to the Caledonia Canal locks, and a visit to Clava Cairns, as well as seeing a lot of the beautiful countryside between the various stops. Hugh knows a tremendous amount about the history and the lore of the Highlands, and makes the tour even more special by wearing a kilt and accompanying Highland garb. I would highly recommend that anyone with a day to spend in this area engage Hugh's services to make the time special and memorable.

“Inverness Tours”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 12, 2013

We had several private tours on our British Isles cruise, all excellent, but Hugh Allison was our favorite guide – kilt and all. There was a lovely mix of personal and professional as he tailored a tour to both our interests and mobility (we are seniors who cannot manage lots of stairs). His knowledge of the area and its history is amazing – and he is able to impart it in such an entertaining way. The tour included outstanding countryside, interesting villages, historical stories, legends (Nessie & Loch Ness), and even a bit of fiction with Gabaldon landmarks such as Clava Cairn. We highly recommend touring with Hugh Allison and Inverness Tours.

“Loch Ness”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 7, 2013

Ian provided our party of 2 Sassenachs and 3 US colleagues with a most informative and enjoyable custom half day tour around Loch Ness and its environs. He took us to places of interest and on the journeys between held our attention. Ian is a great raconteur managing to incorporate all sorts of relevant information into his narrative making the trip that more interesting. He is truly passionate about his country. We thoroughly recommend this company and the guide allocated to us was first class.

“Excellent. It exceeded our expectations!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 5, 2013

Inverness Tours has been one of the best choices we made during our trip to Scotland. We arrived from London in the Caledonian Sleeper Train - family of 6 - and were met at Inverness Train station on scheduled time by a our Scottish guide, Ian, from Inverness Tours, who welcomed us with a big smile , -all dressed in a very elegant and charming traditional kilt-. We were led by him into a very comfortable vehicle in which we started our planned tour to Inverness city, The Highlands, Loch Ness , Urquhard Castle and Cawdor Castle. I was releived to notice we all could understand our experienced guide, ( I feared the Scottish accent might interfere our understanding -as English is not our first language-), as Ian s talk was not only interesting but easy to understand, and to hear, even at the back of the vehicle, as he uses a sound amplifier which helps the passengers at he back to hear everything - while at the same time it s not disturbing at all, as a normal microphone could be. I loved that subtle tec - touch in Ian s car . But the most amazing thing about this tour is to get to know so much about every place you visit in a very personalized way. Ian not only knows a lot about the whole story of Scotland and its places, but also has the ability of knowing how to awaken your interest and transform a tour into a time capsule in which he takes you back to medieval times you can almost see trough his detailed descriptions and fantastic tales. His sense humour was another thing we all enjoyed during the whole trip. He was able to answer every question, also about such things as theatre, playwrights, whiskey, historic battles, and he added some historic gossip sometimes which is always appreciated :)... It was geat to have him around at any location giving you details and information. After he left us in Edinburgh, the following day we all wished he could have stayed..., as Edinburgh is such an interesting city... next time we will make sure we book!
I think the best "tour guides" are the ones who really love the lands and stories they are taking you to or telling you about and at the same time care about your personal interests and keep you entertained. All this is not easy that s why I appreciated Ian s work so much, he was professional in every aspect. His love for his job is felt through the respect and passion he transmits when he talks about the story of these lands he knows so well. We are really thankful and could not recommend him more. Inverness tours exceeded our expectations, as our guide did, and we all hope to be able to go back to Scotland and travel through time again soon with Ian.
