“Overpriced drinks”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 18, 2013

Attended a wedding here. Great surroundings shortage of staff overpriced drinks. Food was OK but not great for a venue that hosts 80 weddings a year. Gin and tonic £4.70???. On the outskirts of Inverness so you need a car.

My wife and I purchased a (I think it was) Groupon voucher for the New Drumossie which was a great price to try the hotel for a night with dinner and breakfast included. The hotel is superb. Despite being only a couple of miles from Inverness, you get the feeling when you look out the front that you are tucked away in a beautiful corner of the highlands.

The staff were incredibly helpful and our room was maybe very slightly antiquated but in a spotless, clean and 'quaint' way. It felt completely correct and fitting with the setting. We had made the hotel aware that we would be bringing our toddler and they had a spotless travel cot already set up which was great to see.

Dinner was something else. Included was a three course meal and while the menu was a little limited, the food was out of this world. And the dining room itself was worth the price of entry alone with beautiful wood paneling and gorgeous silverware and paintings. The staff went out of their way to make it a real experience. I highly recommend trying the sea beam!

Breakfast was also an amazing experience with an elborate continental option with muffins, crossants, cold means, every cereal and fresh juice under the sun as well as a delicious and freshly cooked breakfast. Absolutely perfect.

Overall, a great experience and we will definitely be staying here again.

I apologise for the tardiness of this review! We have stayed at this hotel a couple of times and attended a wedding there and have always found it very nice. Having viewed a few other hotels in the area, we decided to hold our wedding reception here last summer. The reasons we chose it above others were a) the location is out of town, b) the food is excellent, c) the rooms are lovely, d) the function suite is spacious, e) they were flexible with what was included in the "package" and f) the staff are wonderful. We have not regretted our decision. We met with Nancy, who was at that time the wedding co-ordinator, who showed us around and explained how it all worked. She also introduced us to Gillian, her deputy, who proved to be an absolute star. From the moment we booked, they could not have been more helpful. We went "off package" in quite a few areas, and they were always willing to consider our suggestions and make whatever we wanted work. I requested ice cream cones instead of canapes and Pimms as well as champagne, that kind of thing. We also had a cheese wedding cake, and wanted the cheese served with port after the dessert. They embraced all this. In the week before the wedding I must have rung or e mailed maybe three or four times on some days with queries or added instructions, and they never got fed up or rude. Fiona in reservations was also very efficient and helpful.
The day before, I took all the favours and presents for attendants etc to the hotel, and on the day everything was absolutely perfect. The right presents/cards whatever were on the right places and the tables were beautifully decorated with the things we had provided. The whole thing ran like clockwork with Gillian in charge as Nancy was on holiday.
One of the talking points of our day was the wonderful wedding breakfast, and many of our guests have said they have never had such a fantastic meal at a wedding. Not only was the food cooked to perfection, everyone was served at the same time and it was hot! To achieve this for 131 people is quite something! The catering and waiting staff cannot be faulted. At several intervals during the meal the Master of Ceremonies came and asked us if everything was ok or if we wanted anything else.
The band (Anne Dickson Band from Carrbridge) were recommended by the hotel, and were absolutely fantastic. They played a variety of different music, including contemporary stuff and traditional Scottish ceilidh dances. They are also to be recommended.
Many of our guests stayed in the hotel and received special rate. Although this was still not cheap, they all agreed that it was good value considering the quality of the rooms, food and service.
As part of the deal, my husband and I stayed in the honeymoon suite, which was beautiful.
The grounds of the hotel are also very nice, and we had hoped that, as well as having outdoor photographs, our guests would be able to mingle outside as well as in. Sadly, the weather did not oblige, but as the function suite is so spacious, it did not detract from the day.
Fourteen months later, we still have guests telling us what a wonderful day they had at our wedding and what a fabulous hotel this is. We couldn't agree more. For us, the Drumossie was an ideal wedding reception venue, and everything was just as we wanted. I know Nancy has now moved on, but I am sure the team at the Drumossie are still as good as ever, and we would not hesitate to recommend this lovely hotel as an ideal venue for a larger wedding. They made the planning a pleasure and the actual day stress free!

I stayed at the New Drumossie on a business trip for a couple of nights. All the services were excellent. Attentive front of house staff, scrupulously clean bed and bath rooms. Nice refreshment tray with some good coffee; having something better than the normal Nescafe tubes shows that extra little bit of thought that sets the New Drumossie apart from the rest. The one evening meal I had was extremely good fare and served by an obviously well trained team, and I want to ask the chef next time I visit, which I surely will, how he cooked the chips that went with the quite exceptional steak. He probably won't tell me though - trade secret. I have no criticisms at all to make of the New Drumossie although I am slightly uncertain about the security of the wifi as it was unprotected by WEP key - but that is not an issue that would put my score at anything less than a five out of five. Very highly recommended for business travellers to the Inverness area, let alone tourists.

Shared a weekend break with my dear husband. Situated about 10mins drive from the centre of Inverness just off the A9. Looks lovely on the outside and this is matched on the inside. I believe the grounds are nice too but unfortunately everytime we returned to the hotel after being out and about it was raining so only saw the inside. Check in was quick and efficient although the receptionist wasn't the friendliest. We had a deluxe room overlooking the front of the hotel. We stayed Fri-Sun and as it was July there were weddings on both the Friday and Saturday nights so this meant the carpark was very busy. We weren't bothered by any noise from the weddings but I was woken both mornings quite early by the music being played in the breakfast room - yes our room was above the restaurant! The room was a good size with the usual amenities including tea/coffee, trouser press and bathrobes. The bathroom was also a good size although we were only given 2 towels on our second night. A quick call to reception would have rectified this but it was very late when we returned to the hotel. There were a few cosmetic issues with the room but they didn't bother us (a leak down one wall hadn't been repaired discreetly and one of the taps on the bath was missing a bit).
Breakfast was good and freshly made. Quite steep at £15.50 each but we had booked a deal through Booking.com. Plenty selection and very tasty. We didn't take any other meals in the hotel.

Room Tip: Ask for one away from the restaurant and function rooms

We stayed here one night and found the hotel was fine. But the problem was that it is three miles out of town and there is nothing else around it. Yes, it is set in nice grounds, but going back into Inverness was a nuisance. The room was nice and there was plenty of parking. The staff were OK but not particularly friendly.

The manicured gardens are first impressions of this first class hotel very art deco style which was lovely.Reception and staff very obliging and helpful .Superior Rooms are big with new bathrooms, robes etc as expected of a 4 star hotel .
Dining was first class breakfast is served after you have got your usual cereals or cold buffet then the waiters who serve in black and white very smart and proffessional bring your hot plates of scottish breakfast served with white gloves too all the staff were excellent .Our only grumbles are the bed being uncomfortable and noisy due to poor springing and the internet is only available for short periods of time in public areas

Room Tip: You do need sat nav and a car as the hotel is quite off the beaten track
