“Room For Improvement .....”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 29, 2012

Ate here on a busy Friday night in Inverness. The staff were all top class in that they all seemed friendly and were efficient - particularly the young foreign gentleman. The restaurant itself is pleasant to eat in. However, there was certainly room for improvement where the food was concerned. Our starters were rather good but we both ordered the 8oz sirloins steaks for out mains. To be honest, we would be hard pushed to give them more than 5 our of 10. They were rather fatty and served with the absolute minimum of mushrooms and tomato. Furthermore, the quantity control attached to the servings of chips was quite ridiculous. Basically one of these little novely buckets of chips between 2 (we had about 4-5 chips maximum each!). It was clear that the couple next to us and a large group of guys at a nearby table were equally bemused by this sad offering.

It wasn't a bad meal but just not worth the price paid. The staff are lovely and this could be a good eating place if the management decide to take on board their customer's comments as it seems quite a few are finding room for improvement.......

“Very nice place!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 25, 2012

The interior design was lovely I thought, very stylish. The atmosphere was very relaxing. I cant believe I'm reviewing the same place as other reviews as the staff were all nice and friendly, they come immediately with free water and bread and olives which was great. The food was presented very well, and was very tasty. I thoroughly enjoyed it there for lunch!

“Awful service - poorly cooked food.”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed September 23, 2012 via mobile

Have just eaten here. There were two of us. On arrival we were offered a table in the far corner with no glasses on, which we thought was slightly strange but we accepted as it was out of the way, even though the restaurant was fairly quiet. The waitress who initially served us was friendly enough, but when we asked simply for drinking water (as we were both thirsty) I can only assume this was frowned upon as the whole experience deteriorated from then on.
We had no cutlery, nor was any brought, so we found our own (taken from one of the many other correctly laid-out tables that we weren't offered). We chose not to have a starter as we were only grabbing a quick bite to eat. Our mains arrived in reasonable time - chicken breast and fish & chips. This is where further disappointment set in. The fish was undercooked as though it barely been shown the fryer longer than to cook the batter whilst the reverse was true of the chicken that had been cooked just short of cremation. Once we had finished, we were not asked if everything was okay, simply whether we had finished yet (the empty plates clearly didn't provide a clue - yes, we had battled our way through and finished as neither of us like to waste food). We elected not to subject ourselves to desserts (our taste buds needed recuperation after the main), but instead had to put up with being totally ignored by all waiting staff as though we had been forgotten about. Eventually I headed for the till area to be told simply the price with not a single courtesy or pleasantry, which is a pity because if the waiter had bothered to ask if everything was okay I could have given him our feedback privately instead of on here. By this point I just wanted to get out as neither of us felt welcome. At no point were either of us unpleasant to any staff, so I can only put this lamentable experience down to one or more of the following: (a) we are English (they treated the German customers behind us very well), (b) we did not have a starter, (c) we elected not to have any wine (at around a fiver for a 175ml glass we decided to stick to water) or (d) we were two males (best friends it should be noted and not on a gay date!) In summary - never again.

“Very average”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed September 22, 2012 via mobile

Ate here recently and although there wasn't anything massively wrong I thought it was average for many reasons. Steaks were fine although the rump for some reason was cut length wise on the plate, the garlic butter was served way after the steak so there was no heat to melt it, my wifes pork was fatty and dry and with sweetcorn in the sauce looked a little but like sick! The table was presented with a bucket of chips to share which was original and on top of that they were cheap frozen chips which for a restaurant boasting the best steakhouse in town was a major let down. Overall it could have been a decent meal with a better eye for detail. In no rush to return.

“First taste of haggis!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 22, 2012

What a surprise! Haggis is good. We ordered the 8 oz claymore steak. It was topped with haggis and onion rings accompanied with chips. Also ordered the roasted red pepper soup. It was delicious!! Nice atmosphere, wonderful staff. Always tried a local beer wherever we went and was never disappointed. Can't wait to come back!!!
