Having been to the Dores Inn originally in February 2008 my wife and I visited again on the evening of Sunday 3rd October, with friends on the evening of 4th October and then again on Friday 8th October. On our original visit back in 2008 the Dores Inn had just been taken over by Michelle and her husband and the service and food were superb. However on the first evening of our visit despite booking our table the week before on the internet there was real confusion amongst the staff who did not seem to know about this. Also as Michelle was absent it was not possible to verify as the email was to her web site. We did discuss this with her on the Monday evening and she did say she visits the site daily. However the same thing occurred when we booked on the following Friday where again the staff did not have details of the booking and all seemed to know nothing about booking on line.
In terms of our visits some of the food was as before exceptional but the fine touches of Michelle and her husband appeared lacking in some of the offerings we had when accompaniments were not forthcoming as displayed on the menu. Perhaps expecting perfection is not something that one can have at every visit or could it be familiarity breeds contempt? It was just obvious to us that whilst the staff were courteous and also did their best our visits were not up to the standard we had enjoyed when Michelle and her husband oversaw everything. Perhaps running two excellent facilities is sometimes impossible to oversee. However we would still recommend a visit here for both lunch and evening meals to soak up the local atmosphere and to overlook the loch from the viewing area.
