Owner description: Water doesn't get much more mysterious than this 23 mile stretch running through the Great Glen in the Highlands of Scotland. There's no better way to experience Loch Ness than by boat. Jacobite's award winning tours and cruises get you onto the water and into the heart of this iconic landscape. This is a whole lot more than simply sight-seeing. We've been running trips on and around Loch Ness for over 30 years and most of us live here.

“A great trip, but no Nessie :-(”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 14, 2013

We arrived in Inverness by train, and did not realize how far we had to walk to find the point where the Jacobite tour leaves. Their website talks about this, so it was our own short-sightedness. Dragging along our suitcase wasn't much fun through neighborhoods and along a highway type road. Just when your about to give up, tada! There is the Jacobite tour sign.

The trip was a lot of fun, and we enjoyed sitting outside for the better part of the journey, despite the rain. There is food and beverage available for purchase on the ship, and we made friends with a couple of older gents who sat at our table with us (it was a full ship). The tour includes a history of the area, which was really interesting but a little hard to hear. We took the 3.5 hour Discovery Tour, which stopped at Urquhart Castle. While mostly in ruins, it is rich in history, and there are incredible views of the River Ness from the banks.

Unfortunately, we did not see Nessie this time out. We would recommend Jacobite for a tour of the River Ness.

Thank you for your great review.

We agree, the views are incredible and we are pleased that you enjoyed the trip even though Nessie did not appear for you!

“Wish they said!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed March 13, 2013

This had been recommended to us so we went down for the 2pm sailing today and paid £25 & were excited to get on the cruise and spot nessie! That was until the boat pulled up and out of know where appeared a french school trip with many many children. Their was 4 other couples and all the school trip all on the bottom part of the boat due to the weather and to say it spoilt it was an understatement. They chidren were so loud and uninterested and their teacher didnt seem bothered. These were a group of french teenagers that I know when I was at school I would of had much more discipline & been told to respect others, they were so loud we could not hear the commentry, they did turn it up but it was strained to try and here, they did bring tea and shortbread as an apology but to pay £25 I expected respectfull and people that were interested in the cruise. If they had bothered to tel us we would not of minded waiting till the 3pm sailing. It totally spoilt it and as we were get off the cruise one of the french teachers said that was them on a good day! No respect for others and shocking that Jacobite cruises alowed this.

Thank you for your review, we are really disappointed that you did not enjoy your experience at Jacobite.
When Jacobite accept bookings from school parties we ensure that there is a ratio of 1 teacher per 10 pupils which we feel is an acceptable ratio. Having spoken to the staff on board that day they can confirm that although the group were noisy there were no behavioural issues.

We are delighted that our staff provided you with free refreshments as way of compensation and if you wish to return we will happily offer you a free cruise If you contact us in advance we will happily advise you of when we may have a quieter sailing. The afternoons are often busy.

with best wishes

“Great trip”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 9, 2013

Just been on the Sensation tour, which included a trip down the Loch, a visit to Urquhart Castle and the Loch Ness Exhibition Centre. Kenny our tour guide was one of the most friendly and informative guides we've ever met. His commentary on the bus showed how much he knows about the area and really enhanced the journey. This was a fabulous trip and great value for money. I would recommend it to anyone taking a wee trip to Inverness.

“Excellent boat trip”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 9, 2013

A thoroughly enjoyable 1 hour cruise on Loch Ness. The boat is comfortable and clean and the staff attentive and friendly. The cruise is accompanied by a very informative commentary about the Loch and surrounding area. Good value at £12.50
