Being a family of 5 (with 3 kids), Brewers Fayre (or 'Brewsters'), used to be our only eating venture out, but the trips have come far and less between now the children are getting older and beyond the 'playzone' years.
This was our first visit in almost a year, and clearly there has been a change and a menu and staff training 'makeover'. On entering now, you must wait to be seated (I attempted just to find a table in a half empty place), but was quickly shouted at from the bar to wait to be seated! We were led to a table of our choosing by a waitress who informs us what the soup is, what the specials are, and who will be looking after our 'section'. We had just sat down when a very nervous and awkward chap arrived to let us know he will be looking after us, bless him, he is obviously trying very hard reciting what he has to say, but it was all very un-natural and to be honest not needed. Anwyay food arrived quite quickly (15 mins) and was brought out by the 'chef', and was the usual fare to be honest, but surprisingly sparse (14 chips with my roast chicken, which was also surprisingly very 'unroasted'?). Kids meals were quite sparse too. Anyway it was pleaseant enough, not cheap at just under 50 quid for 3 mains, and 2 kids meals plus a drink each. On summarising, they are clearly trying a change of direction in an attempt to become more 'restaurant' but upping the prices and forcing the service will not get it there if you still sell average microwaved food!
