Upon arrival, we were welcomed in by the host, Gus, who made us feel at home right way. It was like being welcomed into their home dining room. The atmosphere is lovely, if a little quaint, with mugs adorning the ceiling and other items for sale on the walls (the restaurant also serves as a gift shop!) The menu is made up of dishes made from ingredients of the highest quality from Scotland and where possible Orkney! We found the bring your own aspect perfectly simple, you just turn up with your drink(s) and are given as many glasses as you need as well as that all important corkscrew!
Our meal was delicious and very good value....having spent the previous 4 days paddling the Great Glen we were ready for a good meal...and that we got! Usually places that produce food as good as this serve you up a tiny amount on a massive plate, here the portions are 'properly sized' and we did not leave feeling hungry!
At the end of the meal we were shocked to find that a 3 course meal for 4 people plus coffees only came to £90....remarkably good value given the food we had just eaten!
As we were staying in the area for a couple of days there was no question about us returning the following night to try the other dishes from the menu that took our fancy!
