“superb walk”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 28, 2013

The old wick castle, should you be visiting wick or the surrounding it worth a visit to the castle area, drive up pasted the harbour and around by the old pultenney distillery along the back coast road park at the end and take the short walk across the field to the old castle behind the army firing range the castle is only partly up three walls but worth a look and it shows the strength of this type of construction, whilst there its worth walking further along the path say three quarters of a mile you will see some great cliffs and you will come across an Island just of the mainland 30 yards with a tunnel through the middle the next time I am up I do intend taking a swim through the tunnel. On your way back you may like to pop in to the distillery ??

“Small site, but lovely area.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 30, 2012

It was not as big as the site at the Castle Sinclair Grinigoe, but the location was lovely and if you are up for it, the coastal walk to the castle from the harbour is picturesque.

“Old Wick”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 5, 2012

Depends a bit on the order in which you visit the area. If you go to Old Wick first it is a small ruin in a beautiful location near the coast with fine views over the sea. Nearby Sinclair Girnigoe castle is about four times the size and right on the edge of a cliff. Going to Old Wick afterwards is a bit of a come down and if tourists have only time to choose one it probably isn't this one.
