“Looks old from the outside, clean and new from the inside”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 21, 2011

The way to the hotel is amazing. The hotel looks old and spaciel from outside. Theinside was clean, new and tidy. The owner were very nice people and the room was very good.
there are great walks around the place.
the dinner in the pub was expensive and not so good but the breakfast was in a beautiful room and was very nice.

We arrived at this hotel soaked through and very tired, having walked from the west coast via Altbeithe. We were concerned that the staff may have been put off by our condition, but they couldn't have been more welcoming. The room was lovely - not only spacious, but also light and with a bit of contemporary edge to its decor (unlike many Highland hotels that are very tired in their finish and often rely too heavily on their dated tartan appeal). The location is also lovely - very quiet, with only the sound of a gurgling burn coming through the window overnight.
We ate in the bar/lounge in the evening and enjoyed its friendly atmosphere (it seemed a mix of both local people and hotel residents). The food and wine were great, offering some distinctive local fare (plentiful in portion, even after a long day's walk).
In terms of value, this hotel is obviously a bit more expensive than other small hotels/ guest houses in the area; but I think this it represents good value, particularly for its scenic location, friendly staff, lovely rooms and the convenience of food/drink options within the hotel. Generally it felt like a bit of comfortable indulgence.

My husband and I stayed here on our honeymoon. The hotel is charming, the rooms comfortable and clean, and the staff friendly. The food in the restaurant was satisfying, featuring classic Scottish types of things, a range of traditional fish, lamb, and game as well as vegetarian dishes. Great selection of Scotch served by the proprietor at the cozy bar. Most of all, the setting is astonishingly beautiful, and this quiet village is an infinitely nicer base for traveling around the Loch Ness and Glen Affric area than the cramped and tourist-infested Drumnadrochit. Granted, I was a tourist too (not my husband so much, since he's from near Inverness anyway), but who wants to see nothing but other tourists when you're touristing, right? Lovely little place in an absolutely stunning location.

We found this hotel to be very friendly. The weather was rain most of the time and when we came back to the village after walking all day there was always a good welcome at the hotel. We had a drink in the bar and they never complained about people coming in with walking boots on. We did not stay at this hotel but at a cottage just down the road. We ate at the hotel most evenings with a bar meal. The game pie was excellent. Although not a very extensive menu everything on it was very good, adequate proportions and the desserts were to die for and you only needed to ask if there was something special that you would like and they did the very best to see that they had it in for the night after. I would recommend this hotel to anyone.

I have stayed in the village of Tomich 1991, 1995, 2003, 2010 and 2011 but never actually at the Tomich Inn. However most of our evening meals were taken at the Tomich Inn by way of bar meals and I have never had a bad one yet. The staff have always been extremely friendly and most helpful. The food has always been most tasty with ample portions. Cost wise it favoures well with other restaurants/hotels in the area. The menu was reasonably extensive and varied. The chef is very accommodating as are all the staff from the top downwards. The bar is well stocked. Even when quiet the staff help to make a good atmosphere by their friendliness and are always prepared to advise on places to visit or on local walks.

Enjoyed our stayed here 15th September. Staff most friendly at all times. We ate dinner here which was well cooked and presented, breakfast was very nice with a choice of cereals to start and a menu for main breakfast, it was nice to be offered a refil of toast. Bedroom 3 was fantastic, best bed Ive slept in in any hotel, bathroom was spotless and modern with lovely shower and jacuzzi bath. I would recommend this hotel and yes I will return.

I can't comment on the accommodation, we only ate here one evening.

Staff were very pleasant and welcoming however the food was hugely disappointing. The food was very dull and tasteless, portions were a little mean and expensive. We only ate here because it was close to our accommodation but wished we'd travelled a bit further for a decent meal.

The dining area is very uninspiring and we were not given a choice to eat in the formal dining area.
