“Nice one night stopover”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 1, 2010

We booked the king sleigh bedroom and it was in a building out the back of the house with other bedrooms. It was a nicely decorated room with good curtaining, bed linen and a good sized bathroom. The bed was very comfortable and we had all we required for the one night stopover. The guest house is on the main thoroughfare in town, but on the northern end and a bit of a walk into the shopping area.
Breakfast was very good and filling. The dining room had a pleasant atmosphere.
I would certainly stay here again.

Host Jill and Jonathan Gatenby and their staff were exceptional in catering to our every need during our 5 night stay in Aviemore, Scotland. A number of us choose to stay here vs the McDonald Hotel during the Adventure Travel World Summit.

Jill arranged early breakfast for us (smoked salmon, organic and local produce, pressed coffee and many options from a menu of oatmeal choices to traditional breakfasts options). Wireless network throughout, well equipped bathroom and bedroom, good lighting, comfortable bedding and bed. The property is cozy and warm. Chickens in the backyard roam freely.

Above and beyond: I was lent a bike by Jill to travel back and forth to the conference, offered laundry assistance due to my crazy schedule of going from Scotland to Peru, phone calls were made for transfers and taxis, suggestions for restaurants and night options...always offering more than was asked.

I would love to return and stay at Ravenscraig for vacation vs work ;-)

I stayed 4 nights in this hotel with some friends. We all are tour operators in different countries and we spend a lot of time checking hotels and lodges for our trips. So we are not the easiest clients! But we found this place is GREAT and highly recommended, something that make it unique …the owners… they are so nice with the guests and they try to accommodate all your needs, fantastic people, fantastic B&B, fantastic place!

We first stayed at this B&B many years ago and have fond memories so managed to book the last room available ( 12 months in advance) for the BH weekend. We were attending the annual Harley Owners rally. There are "new " owners since we came last but everything was spot on.Nice people, good staff and CLEAN! (Its the first thing my wife checks)-We had Room 2-a quiet one at the back.Nothing too much trouble for Jill and her
husband-really friendly and well located B&B.we are already booked for next year!
Would recommend this establishment to anyone,be it for 1 night or longer.

Had an "okay" stay at The Ravenscraig B&B in Aviemore, decent location not far from the station and bars/shops. Room wasn't very clean and on the cramped side but nothing too bad. Reasonable en-suite with a nice shower but it had the noisiest plumbing ever and was a little disruptive when sleeping. Breakfast was so-so and a bit of a disappointment after reading the description on their website, there wasn't as abig a selection as you are led to believe and portions were too small. Ample parking at the B&B. Staff not the friendliest and had very little knowledge of the area. I wouldn't return to this B&B but at the same time I wouldn't say to avoid this B&B at all costs.

We had a lovely big room with a view. Ravenscraig is in a good location on the main road thru Aviemore but at the quiet end of town. It was within a 5-10 min walk of most of the eating places. Good local information available in the sitting room and when I'd booked on the phone I'd been given honest and useful answers to my questions about local attractions! (The reindeer are great to visit!).
Breakfast was busy but efficient, loads of choice, and they happily got me cheese & tomatoes, as I'm not a fan of the full cooked which my partner enjoys. The eggs were home produced, the hens were roaming the garden!

The rooms (chalet) and bathrooms are high quality, cosy and clean. Breakfast was excellent. No small packaged jams (less waste) - wide range of different jams in good quality, cereals with dried fruits, scottish breakfast was excellent.
The staff were friendly, good organized and quickly in serving scottish breakfast.
They have their own chicken and a cat ( for all who loving animals)
