“What a cracker”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 12, 2012

My husband and I spent three nights at the Rowan Tree. Our bedroom was spotlessly clean, well furnished and large. We decided to have dinner there on all three nights and we were in for a treat. The wonderful choice of menu was very well presented. Like me you will have had battered fish and hand cut chips, the simplest meal on the varied menu, but don't write it off just because its familiar. Beer batter as crisp and any biscuit and text book chips, golden brown outside and fluffy inside. A must. The staff are friendly, cheery and helpful. The lounges were comfortable with a coal fire in one room and a gas/electric fire in the other. There were also various table games available for those who wished to pass the time of day. In the bar the fire was on on Monday evening and gave a very welcoming atmosphere. All in all this Hotel is definitely worth a visit.

Room Tip: Room 5 has three windows and is bright, very well equipped and spacious.

We were staying locally for my 60th birthday weekend and booked months in advance for dinner on the strength of the menu on the website as it seemed to offer lots of interesting gluten free options to suit me as a coeliac. When we got there the menu had changed a bit but it had become even better for coeliacs - now the menu was verging on 90% gluten free! The atmosphere in the restaurant was great and the food when it came was utterly fabulous. It was a real highlight for myself and all my family there with me. I could even get a dish made with gluten free pastry! That was the first in a decade. The staff were great too, really pleasant and helpful. It was a wonderful night, making it a really special and memorable celebration. I can't wait to go back, nor can any of my family. Well done Rowan Tree Country Hotel.

Just back from a one night stay at this lovely wee hotel outside Aviemore. Ideal for a quiet getaway as no need to go anywhere else - the cosy atmosphere of the bar and seating areas are lovely and homely and the food is excellent and well priced. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would definately have no hesitation in recommending this hotel. The quality of food and service were second to none. All the staff were very friendly and helpful.. The owners have included lots of lovely wee touches and attention to detail which enhances this old coaching inn and makes your stay a memorable one - thank you.

We were only booked in for the one night at the Rowan Tree Country Hotel but were bowled over by how beautiful the hotel is. From the moment we arrived we were made very welcome and our room was beautiful, very clean and well equipped. The had booked a meal in the restaurant. The food is cooked to order so everything is very fresh. Our meal was lovely and the staff were very efficient in serving it. Breakfast had everything from cereal to a full Scottish breakfast. We will definitely stay there again and would have no hesitation in recommending it to our friends.

Stayed here whilst doing a road trip round Scotland. First impression was that it seemed a little way out of Avimore town to comfortably walk in. The room was a little dated but well provided and comfortable. Decided to try the in house restaurant and enjoyed viewing the menu with a drink at the cosy bar. The restuarant food was very good and served up by friendly staff.
With another drink from the bar I retired to the comfy lounge area to relax, taking advantage of the free Wi fi.
After a good night sleep i was looking forward to breakfast and was not disappointed, freshly cooked to order with good choice. Would highly recommend the porridge !

Stayed the night of 7 September and were not disappointed. Location was ideal for one night - close enough to the centre of town but peaceful and quiet. Our room was clean and well appointed - with a wonderful 'typically Scottish highland' view - trees, hills, a loch and sheep!! Idyllic! Dinner in the restaurant was delicious and breakfast equally so. Would definitely recommend to anyone.
