“Dirty hostel style bunkhouse”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 weeks ago

When we booked this hotel, there were no high hpes of quality but expected basic standards of hygiene. The check in was a long process, no one to help to checkin or with our luggage to the rooms. the rooms were stinky with almost no ventilation and the heater was not working.

The bathroom curtains was not changed for possibly 5 years or more, there was no soap to wash hands after using the washroom. Bunkbeds and the pillows and bedsheets were stinking of sweat smoke and liquour.

The only thing which was good in this entire stay was the morning walk around the area where the bunkhouse is. Else there are much better properties to stay around in Aviemore.

Would surely not suggest this property to anyone

Room Tip: Please avoid staying in this bunkhouse, there are much better places in Aviemore

Booked the Bunkhouse for a group of 14 girls, ages ranging from 24 to 62, for one night for a hen party. The bride being a country girl at heart - along with everyone else - would not have enjoyed a tacky dress up pub crawl around a city.

As the group was so large, we got sole use of the bunkhouse which worked out perfectly. All rooms are ensuite which was very handy with 14 ladies getting ready.Rooms were a good size, and it's great to be provided with proper bed linen and not just a sleeping bag. Another thing to add is that the bunkbeds are full size single mattresses. I have stayed in many a place where the bunkbeds have stopped short. Being 6ft myself, it was great to have a good nights sleep on a bed that was long enough!

Other reviews have had complaints, but I assure you, if you go in with realistic expectations you will enjoy your stay. I was not looking for luxury, I was looking for accommodation in a good location, at a good price, that would really just be our base and a bed for the night. It worked out well and all guests at the hen party have further commented to me how much of a good time they had.

Lovely, friendly staff on check in. She made sure we knew where we were going and gave us some good tips about where to go for some live music that night. Took her up on her advice and had an incredible time.

We arrived at about noon, check in is not until 4pm. This was not a problem however, as they offered to store our weekend bags in the drying room for the day whilst we were doing activities.

The bar next door has a fantastic atmosphere and we felt very welcome. The staff are efficient and very knowledgeable about their drinks.

If you are looking for accommodation for the type of weekend we had - for outdoor enthusiasts - then this is a good call.

Nicely priced for family room, comfortable enough, nice staff.
Only down side little bit of litter from previous people using room and sheets on one bed smelling little bit stale.
Would def use again.
The restaurant next door again was very good.pleasant little spot and would return.

Had bunk room for 6 to ourselves: 2 double bunks and a double bed. 2 spars supporting bed were broken. This, along with heat inside and noise outside, meant not much sleep happened. Music from car outside played till gone 4am. Not hostel's fault music played outside beyond
hostel but certainly kept us awake. May be less intrusive had our windows not needed to be open for heat wave Kitchen/dining area fairly small. En suite shower room v good. Bridge Inn next door was v good. Great location for Cairngorm walks.

Room Tip: Top floor very warm in warm weather

I slept there one night in the dorm which was a nice room with attached bathroom and toilet. The staff is not really present, they are in the pub next door and you should go there to get in touch with them. The key was difficult, but I found a way to use it. The kitchen was nice, but people were not that talable. Overall a fine experience, cheap and clean and the pub (owned by the same people) is really nice with a real feel to it.

My friend and I had a room of 6 just to the two of us, and it was perfect. Clean bedding (no sleep sheet!) and immaculate ensuite shower/toilet. The staff were hugely welcoming, and kitchen facilities were great, although may be slightly cramped if the hostel was full. WiFi worked really well, and the location was great. The inn next door was welcoming with good food and drink options. Would definitely stay here again.
