“Pre Birthday Dinner”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 5, 2013

Had my pre birthday dinner with my family on the 2nd March

Food was fantastic. I would have to say it was one of the finest meals I have eaten in a very long time. Presentation etc was simply first class. Choices were imaginative and well presented.

Service excellent despite the fact it was very very busy.

I would say that they now have the finest food in the valley.

Not a cheap meal but well worth the money.

“Best place to eat in aviemore!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 4, 2013 via mobile

Ate here for my husband's 40th birthday whilst visiting aviemore. We were with his parents and our small children. We'd been warned that it didn't cater for children but they offered highchairs and had 4 options for the children to eat (sausages, roast beef and 2 pastas). The menu was select but we all found something we could eat and the food was very high standard, my husband (& the man at the next table) remarked that it was the best venison they'd ever had! I had the sea bream which was delicious. We took a birthday cake with us; they happily served it, brought a knife and plates with no pressure to order deserts.
Its a rustic old inn with a relaxed local feel rather than formal dining but the food standard if much higher and refined than pub grub.
Can highly recommend and wouldn't hesitate to go again if in the area.

“Pricey Lunch”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 4, 2013

First time in this restaurant. We had Sunday lunch here recently and where I cant fault the service and surroundings ( lovely log fire) I feel £12 for a roast dinner is way too expensive. The meal consisted of 2 slices of roast beef, gravy, sliced carrots, sugar snap peas, large yorkshire pudding and the obligatory roast potatoes. The meal was very enjoyable, so much so I asked at the bar for more gravy. The barman / waiter advised me that he would check with the kitchen to see if they had any left as they had been busy ( 1.15pm). I found this odd as its a reasonable request. Alas, more gravy was not forthcoming and I had to finish the meal without, leaving it a rather dry affair. I did notice, though, another table being served roast dinners with the sought after gravy. Summing up, lovely pub/ restaurant with good food.

“Good Food, Well Presented But Lacks Flavour”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 4, 2013 via mobile

Nice restaurant in Aviemore food is good and well presented but some dishes did lack flavour. Menu is ever changing which is nice. Staff are very polite & helpful. Wine list is great and you can buy a proper pint, Without doubt the best place to eat in Aviemore it's not cheap but it's not an average place to eat. Best described as a fine dining pub so your kids will not like it!
Keep up the good work.
