“A must when in Aviemore”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 27, 2012 via mobile

My wife and I visit La Taverna every time we come to Aviemore (which is at least once a year). The food is absolutely delicious. There is a very well stocked buffet which is available at lunch and in the evening. However if you do not fancy the buffet there is a very wide range of Italian dishes to enjoy. My personal favourite is the calzone.

If I can give you one word of advice, if you are staying in Aviemore I recommend you walk to the restaurant, as mark my words you will be so full afterwards you will need the walk home!

“Excellent Value”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 27, 2012

Ate here one night with a friend having been reccomended by many people.
When we arrived the restaurant was very busy but staff were polite and seated us at the bar where we were happy to wait. We both chose the buffet. There was a vast selection of salads; olives, beetroot, colslaw... for starters which was nicely presented and tasted very fresh. There were about 6 different pizzas, some flavour combinations I had never tried which were tasty, and some regular pepperoni etc. Pizza's were continuously being rotated, meaning that food was always fresh and warm. There were about 4 different kinds of pasta, I tried the pesto pasta, and maccoroni, both were good. There was also garlic bread which unfortunately was a bit soggy (only disappointment of the buffet).
For pudding, about 3 different cakes, as well as jelly and icecream were on offer. Not the best I have ever tasted but good that they were included in the buffet price which I wasn't expecting.
Staff were attentive and friendly especially the young female waitresses who were always smiling. I will definately be back.

“good value Italian buffet”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 24, 2012

We ate here early one evening, and the place soon filled up. I have never been to an all you can eat Italian before, but on the basis of other all you can eats , i was expecting luke warm food, low quality products, just eat and go. But, i was wrong , the food was surprisingly decent. There was a good range of pizza, pasta, salads with a great variety of flavours. The best thing for me was, that they kept bringing out small quantities to top up the buffet, all freshly cooked, so there was no build up of 'stale' food. Also the variety kept coming with the top ups.
For an all you can eat, it was very good, and great value for money.
Shame there were so many noisy babies and badly behaved young children in there, but it was early so not much i could do. I would eat later in future and hope for a bit less chaos and noise.

“Excellent Food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 22, 2012

Lovely simple menu, super service, clean, food excellent, perhaps could be a little more inventive with children's menu, however would certainly recommend and would go back.

“the italian restaurant in the highlands”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 20, 2012

We were a group of 5 and two of us chose the buffet while the others chose from the menu. The seafood salad left much to be desired as the only seafood were pieces of octopus purchased already processed and 3 small shrimps. Ecpected better from an italian restaurant.
