Description: Cafe Andaluz in Cresswell Lane is our original restaurant, opened in 2003. It is a great place for couples, groups and families. Set in semi basement level, the décor of bright coloured tiles, dark wood and patterned ceramics creates a genuine Andalucian warmth, sit back with a glass or pitcher of sangria and you’ll feel like you’re back on holiday in no time.

“Not as good as previous visits”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 10, 2012 via mobile

Went on a Saturday night, arriving 15 mins early for a 10pm booking but there was a free table although all others were occupied. A very busy atmosphere & a huge amount of noise that we normally associate with the City Centre restaurant, not this one - but then it IS only 2 weeks until Christmas.

I think the full house contributed to the fact that our service was patchy - we had 5 different servers during our visit, and didn't get the feeling that any of were particularly attentive. We weren't offered bread, and were never asked how out food was even though we had 2 seperate orders between drinks.

Some new options on the menu, but prices seem to have increased from our last visit. My tortilla portion was disappointly small but nice (though not that warm) but the chorizo & black pudding was delicious and piping hot.

The sea bass was very oily & not that nice, and the mussels (a substitution for mackerel which was unavailable) were totally tasteless - seemed like they were cooked in plain boiling water then added to a bowl of sauce. Both dishes were eaten but only because the kitchen had closed & we knew that replacements would not be available.

This is one of our favourite restaurants & we will be going back I have no doubt, but this visit left us very under-whelmed unfortunately.

“Much improved!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 3, 2012

Had a late dinner on a thursday night at this restaurant - had been on a few other occasions but never been blown away by the food, but it was my partners turn to choose! However I was very pleasantly surprised, the quality of the food seems to have improved substantially since my last visits. We arrived without a booking fairly late - it would have been around 9pm - but they managed to squeeze us in - the restaurant was near capacity. We selected a number of dishes but standout in terms of flavour were the confit duck leg, the asparagus salad and the pork cheeks in red wine - they were all absolutely delicious. Probably wouldn't order the baby squid again (all batter and not much squid) but everything else was excellent. Staff were attentive although they were obviously very busy I have no complaints about the quality of the service. Looking forward to my next visit!

“Fast becoming one of my favourites”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 22, 2012

I have been here quite a few times now and love it. The food is great, (especially the goats' cheese with orange marmalade mmmm) the atmosphere is great and the staff are efficient and friendly (much friendlier than the staff at the other Cafe Andaluz who can be a bit snooty!) It can be a bit on the pricey side, but they often have special offers on. For example, on Sundays you can get 3 tapas and a dessert for £14.95 which is good. Although the wine is a bit pricey too. Overall it's fantastic and has definitely made it onto my circuit.

“Expensive Beer.!!!!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 21, 2012

This is our second visit to Cafe Andaluz and again we found the food very tasty. We shared Tapas between 4 people and washed it down with a couple of pints of Spanish Lager. Overall, the food was good, service good and the atmosphere was great. Wasn't impressed with the price of the beer when the bill came though........£4.50 a pint !! It wasn't that special.

“Excellent Birthday dinner!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 18, 2012 via mobile

Went to Cafe Andaluz on Friday for our daughter's birthday. Five of us took the 5pm deal - 3 tapas plus sweet for £14:95 each - excellent value! Five veggie, five fish and five meat tapas - suited us perfectly! Reasonable price for drinks. Low supplement for some dishes but only £115 for all including drinks. All dishes were very well cooked and presented, we couldn't fault any of them and the portions were good. Staff were attentive and friendly. Good atmosphere. Coffee machine somewhat noisy at times but that was our only negative comment. Been here many times and never disappointed.
