“Bit of a let down...”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 29, 2013

Dreamhouse (whoever they are) don't own this block of flats - they just own a few which they rent out - and the owner/occupiers don't like it. Hence there is no 'Reception' - the staff have an office nearby and meet you on the street outside the block. The staff are very pleasant however.

We were upgraded to a 2 bed so the flat was quite spacious - but it was WELL worn and scuffed - you wouldn't want to sit on the sofas - very shabby in places. There were broken window handles, broken blinds and broken bathroom fittings. The WiFi didn't work properly. Amazingly - there was no toilet paper - not even any soap.

On the other hand, the flat was very well located for the city centre and shops. The TV received Freeview. There was even Home Cinema. The kitchen was well equipped and had all the appliances. There was a Tesco Express adjacent the street door to the block.

However - there was a LOT of street noise - both traffic and weekend revellers.

Overall - not recommended.

Room Tip: Get a flat high up and at the rear because of the street noise.

Stayed for a week in the apartment. On the positive side, the location is superb being right in the heart of the city. Ample underground parking underneath the building is a great bonus and with a Tesco shop on the ground floor and other supermarkets close by, it is easy to collect essentials. The apartment fittings are good quality and the rooms are spacious so all the ingredients are there to provide top rate facilities.
The downside is the apartments are simply not being maintained and the issues are all of a minor nature but so important for enjoyment of the facilities available. On being shown our first apartment, found the bedroom window would not close and being January this was an issue. Also there wasn’t a full set of anything in the kitchen with plates, glasses, cutlery missing. We were offered a second apartment and this also had lots of equipment missing, the kickboard in the kitchen was hanging off and the electric towel rail did not work. The lady who brought us up to the apartment was most apologetic and at her suggestion we solved the equipment problem by raiding the first apartment. The kickboard was repaired but the maintenance guy was unable to fix the towel rail and this remained broken throughout our stay. There was no welcome back and the beige bedroom carpet was badly stained although apart from this the rooms were clean.
Our bed mattress was also worn out, dipping badly in the middle and was extremely soft so it didn’t provide for a good night’s sleep.
Overall the apartment is capable and should attain 5 stars but not with this lack of attention to detail.

The good, excellent apartment with underground parking, well fitted, freeview TV and good broadband. Plenty of room and everything worked. Some one came in each day and tidied up, very impressive; great location and the perfectly positioned Tesco.

The bad, they did not mail me and tell me that I needed to be met in order to gain access. Therefore I just turned up at the address to find a plain door and no way in. Called the website number to find the office closed - big problem. Called 'Booking.com' who put me through to a mobile, a lady answered who was stood on the street next to me!! Big relief but could have been a disaster. They had texted me asking my arrival time but no indication it was more than interest.

Firstly I loved the apartment itself, spacious, warm and very clean, the location could not be bettered walking distance to the shops and restaurants. The Tesco late shop and the coffee shop on the ground floor mean that you will never run out of essentials.
The problem was the first flat we were shown had a door ripped off the kitchen unit, the toilet had been used and not flushed, the TV didn't work properly and more importantly for a self catering unit the items left for use where either missing or broken. The second flat was better apart from the microwave left in the broom cupboard on its side. Also the welcome pack was not as advertised. The plus points are the member of staff who welcomed us was extremely apologetic and worked hard to find us the other flat.
The lack of attention to detail was unusual for a company advertising itself at the luxury end of the market I have paid far less for more luxurious flats.
The block is shared between private residents and and Dreamhouse guests, we however are not ones using the word luxury so you'd think an effort would be made to fix problems like the picture we have posted below from the entrance hall.
Again we enjoyed our stay and would recommend these apartments if Dreamhouse raise their game and sort out the niggling, basic, easily solved problems. I would suggest a minimum of an inspection before guests arrive.

This is my preferred place to stay when going back to visit my home town without imposing ourselves on family or friends - it also gives us flexibility of being right in the city centre.

The location could hardly be better in my view - a very short stroll from George Square, and its frequent direct express bus to the airport as well as all other amenities. There is a Tesco metro shop literally next door on one side, and a good coffee shop next door to the entrance on the other side. There is underground parking in the building if required. Being a city centre location if you really cannot stand any noise then you might have an issue, but it has never been a concern for us even when had a baby in tow.

Apartments are always clean, the wifi works and are well fitted out in my view.

As there is no reception in the building then you can wait a few mins to be let in of someone has to come from the office - the wait has never been more than a few mins for us, and to be honest if it was would simply go for a coffee next door.

If travelling with a family or small group this is way better value than a hotel and much more flexible.

When booking staff are always super efficient and polite. If travelling with a family cots and high chairs etc are available.

Am just back from latest trip and realised I had never written a review before - so am putting that right now. We will stay here again on my next trip home as well.

Really good value for money; centrally located and well appointed flat for the two of us that was just right.

Tesco Express downstairs, cafe nearby. We self catered and also ate out so it felt just like home from home. Clean and warm, decent fridge and oven etc.

Only real criticisms were not knowing exactly what to do with the key on our departure. There might have been some instruction in the 'information file' but we certainly couldn't find it. In the end, we called an emergency number and it was resolved.

Another point was lack of Wi-fi signal. The apartments had Wi-fi and I could see that the router had a light on - but I never managed to get my iPad to work. Not a major thing but it irritated me at the time. Would I stay here again? Yes, definitely.

We always stay at Dreamhouse Apartments when we visit Glasgow (about once every 18 months). We really enjoy the freedom of self catering. The kitchen is well equipped. The 2 bed 2 bath apartments are spacious. We did find on this last visit that it was a bit tired and definitely needed some refurbishment. Having said that, it will still be the place we stay for our next visit.
