My wife and I had a great meal at the Mussel Inn a few weeks ago so we decided to take our parents last Saturday evening. Despite arriving early and the restaurant being busy, we were shown to our table quickly and with a smile. Fom start to finish, every dish was fresh and perfectly cooked. Having had the mussels last time, we eventually opted to start with crab salad and fish cakes - really tasty but not so filling as to spoil the main event. For mains, everyone else chose the sea bass which got 10/10. I had the seafood platter which included mussels, queen scallops, king scallops, tiger prawns, grilled sea bass, etc - all sitting in a shallow bowl with a very light sauce made with creme fraiche. It was absolutely beautiful. Those big scallops - assume they are "kings" we're the stars. I'm ashamed to say that we also had ice cream - leaving big I smiles all round
The service was faultless too, our young server looked after us all evening. The bill wasn't particularly scary either at £110 for 4 people, including starters, mains, 2 desserts, bottle of wine, 2 beers and 4 speciality teas.
If you want great seafood and gat service at decent prices, without fancy surroundings, this is the place. We'll definitely be back.
