“Cured our hunger on a pouring wet day”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 19, 2013

We were going to see the afternoon performance of Hairspray at the Kings. We left only a short period of time for a bite to eat as we expected to grab something in our hotel, on arrival there was two weddings and the bar/restaurant was full. Heading out in the pouring rain hungry we decided to get a taxi to the Kings and see if there was any cafes/pubs to grab some lunch near to it. The options were an Italian, take-aways, Tesco or The Griffin. We decided to try The Griffin and I am so glad we did. We were lucky and managed to get the last table available as it was also really busy. I had a Cajun chicken sandwich with chips and my mum had a tuna sandwich with chips. Food was delicious and staff were really friendly. So glad we found The Griffin, we will definitely return anytime we are at the Kings.

“A great Glasgow experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 9, 2013

This bar/restaurant does not pretend to be something that it is not. What it is is a very, very nice establishment with bags of character features, good ale, perfectly fine food and very reasonable prices. The staff are friendly and good-humoured. And the place is so very clean. Go visit - and enjoy (and check out those amazing windows!). Our visit was at about 4.30pm and the bar was getting busy - a really good atmosphere was building by the time we left about an hour later.

“English guy runs a great Glasgow bar.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 9, 2013

Don't know why, where or how but the English guy who manages the Griffin deserves an award for his patience, attention to detail and outrageous remarks to the lucky tourists who happened to pop in.I'll be back.

“Just a pub”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 29, 2013

Dingy, a little dank and in need of refurb - the Griffin sits away from most of the hustle and bustle and seems to be an older man's pub.

With all the local competition, I'm amazed it's survived this long, but it's perhaps its old man's appeal that keeps it going.
