We spent a week at the Ivory Hotel and can't say enough good things about our experience there. Our room was spacious, very comfortable and had a lovely view facing Queen's Park. The hotel is located in a nice, quiet area in Glasgow and has a good pub and restaurant that makes it an ideal place to unwind after a long day sightseeing. What we will remember most fondly is the friendly and caring staff. They went to great lengths to make sure that we were comfortable and well taken care of. We certainly look forward to returning.
Stayed here on the basis of the previous reviews. You book in in the bar / restaurant area, which is clean and modern. Given the room key and told the room was on second floor. The stair and landing carpets were not clean, but proceded to my room. On one landing there was an ironing board and a vacumn cleaner. I realised that both were for guests use. The rooms had obviously been updated a couple of years before, but little done to them since. The wardrobe had glass panels, one was missing. The bathroom had the toilet roll holder broken. The carpet may have been cleaned but not under chairs etc. The bathroom had a tiled floor and I did not fancy walking on it in bare feet.
The restaurant was excellent, the food superb, and good value.
Breakfast was another thing. Went down at 8.00am not a soul around, wandered all round but nobody in kitchen or anywhere else and no sign of food. Eventually someone came in and asked what I wanted, he proceded to arrange for a continental breakfast which was Ok if you like corn flakes! Asked about payment and had to wait for 20 mins for charlie to arrive, by now it was 9.20am.
This could be an ideal place but it is basically a restaurant for evening meals with a few rooms. I should have realised this when looking at the website pictures.
If you want a good meal then come here, if you are a business person who needs to get away in the morning, and like a clean place to stay, then pay more elsewhere.
Stayed over Easter - such friendly staff - rooms clean and tidy - food very good (Resturant always full) - service very good - highly recommended - shall be going back
The Ivory hotel is a great place to stay in Glasgow. A short drive from the city centre (Its just of the A77 opposite Queens Park), the hotel offers lovely rooms at excellent prices. Doubles are just £60 per night and at the weekends that price includes an enormous and very delicious Scottish Breakfast. The rooms are furnished in a modern style and are very comfortable, with TV, Tea making facilities and full en-suites. The restaurant serves mouth watering modern food and is very busy on a Saturday night (we had a pre-theatre dinner at a cost of £11 per person for 2 courses and the place was buzzing). The bar area is also good and is busy at the weekend, but the good thing is that noise can't be heard from the rooms! Overall I would highly recommend this hotel and will certainly be using it again if I stay in Glasgow!
