We contacted this hotel because our usual pet friendly hotel was full on the date we wanted to stay. Our first impressions were good. The receptionist was a young Pole who was friendly and spoke excellent English. Our room was large, bright and clean, however, our television was tiny and had no remote, all the beds had seen better days and the in room tea and coffee didn't cater for you if you wanted to have two hot drinks. Since the room had four beds (only two of us though) some one would have had to go without. There did not seem to be any staff on the premises after 10pm and our night was broken with guests who had arrived after this time ringing the door bed continuously trying to get attention to get in. Our breakfast which we had been told was continental was a very sorry affair - we were greated by the remnants of previous cooked breakfasts (which could be ordered the night before) lying half eaten. The remains on the plates of sausages which were very pink inside and if had been eaten would have done some damage! We had to make our own toast and tea or coffee and with no staff visable we had to refill the kettle from our bathroom tap! An assortment of cereal was available but looked in a sorry state as did the fruit. Not a continental breakfast more a make yourself arrangement.
We found this hotel very expensive for what we got. A total lack of Scottish hospitality and a very poor impression for visitors for a first taste of Scotland. The only positive was that it is in a good location for the West End of the city but we would not recommend this hotel nor stay again.
