I had one night in the Alamo earlier this month and have already booked to go back with my husband next month. Steve and Emma couldn't have been more welcoming. The house is lovely and has been lovingly renovated with impressive attention to detail. Don't forget to look up; there are some magnificent ceilings to admire. My bedroom was very comfortable and the shared bathroom was spotlessly clean with modern facilities. Emma and Steve were also very welcoming to my student son who lives around the corner and turned up at odd times to see me and to stroke the 20 year old cat in his basket in the hallway.

The location is great, with Kelvingrove Park on the doorstep and the University a short stroll away. There are some excellent eateries within a few minutes walk. We tried out The Ivy for a delicious lunch and The Finnieston for wonderful, reasonably priced seafood.

I'd like to be able to offer some constructive criticism but I can't think of how they could do it better. Perfect!

Room Tip: I had a double (room 10 I think) without ensuite that was ideal for one night. Emma showed me a coup...

My partner had booked a 2 night stay as a surprise for my birthday at the Alamo. We stayed in room 12 and it was a lovely experience for us both. We could appreciate the time and effort that has gone into making this room and the public areas of the Alamo unique.

We enjoyed the vast choice on offer for breakfast and as an Earl Grey tea lover I was pleased to be able to have this too! We loved looking at the painted ceilings and the excellent atmosphere created by Steve and his wife Emma. The facilities at this venue surpass others and it is fantastic that you can bring food into the dining area till 9pm if you wish too. We chose to eat out and the Butchers shop bar & grill is a must but you need to book a table especially on Tuesday night!

The areas and bedrooms are spotless and that can only be the quality of staff who assist the couple in a busy luxury boutique B&B. We would defo visit again and we thank you for the birthday gift. many thanks and great to chat to you both today.

Room Tip: Room 12 for a special occassion.

I made my second visit to the Alamo with a very exacting companion whose usual choice for a weekend break is a 5 star hotel. Having stayed 2 years ago with my adult son, I knew he'd have nothing to worry about.

The elegant exterior impresses & the building is beautifully placed next to the park & close to Kelvingrove museum. Inside, the place exudes tranquility, comfort & peace & Steve gives the warmest of welcomes. Public areas are tastefully decorated, mainly by Steve's own hand, (however did he find the time?) while bedrooms are all delightfully individual with the most comfortable mattresses & excellent facilities, like high quality TVs, DVD players etc.

Breakfast is generous, varied & delicious & although no evening meals are provided, guests are welcome to use the lovely dining room, crockery etc. if they wish to bring in food, though Steve's encyclopaedic knowledge of excellent local restaurants is hard to beat.

Services include free wifi, & a huge range of films & a laptop computer available for guests to borrow. Overall, the quality of the whole experience makes the Alamo much more than a guest house. My 5 star loving friend was highly impressed & we can't wait to return.

I stayed at this wonderful guest house with my daughter just at the beginning of university in september and did not want to leave so even went back for a sixth night. I have not tasted bacon and eggs like it-from a local farm-enough reason alone to return! And the ceiling in the dining room is a work of art-a good taster before crossing over to the Kelvingrove museum and art galleries. I have already booked a return 4 nights in November, and can't wait. My daughter will also stay to have a break from halls. The owners were both very kind and welcoming to her to Glasgow too. The rooms are beautiful and we felt right at home. This is one of the best places I have ever stayed in. I have had enough of the blandness and corporate nature of hotels in so many cities and countries, where you are just yet another guest -here you feel human again. The location is superb too with greenery and a view of tennis courts so no high rise blockages of the horizon.

Excellant service from Steve with great recommendations for nearby restaurants. Lovely decor with charm. Great breakfasts with plenty of choice. Small but lovely room with everything I needed and all spotlessly clean. Great location on a quiet street with views over the park. I was at a conference at the SECC, which is a 10 minute walk away.

This is an excellent guest house! The owners attention to detail and service makes all the difference. Even the most demanding clients will enjoy staying here. Shared facilities are very good if you do not wish to take the en-suite. The decor has atmosphere and charm. The location is also very convenient for visitors to Glasgow.

Room Tip: No 4 is en-suite and sleeps as a double or a three person family room.
