“Hogmanay party night 2012!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed January 3, 2013

I went here with 16 other family members for Hogmanay party night. What a Shambles!!! Hotel was freezing, smelt damp and smoky. The meal that cost £50pp was absolutely discusting, freezing cold which was returned several times.....it was not worth 50pence pp! This whole party night was all about the profit being made for the hotel.
The staff were great except from a lady at reception who I think was some sort of manageands he was completely rude!
Avoid this place if you don't want a rubbish night!!!

Paid £200 to have Christmas dinner here with my family. Absolute shambles from start to finish, waited 15 minutes for someone to approach our table with a menu. First course ok but portion size poor. Second course soup cold and I mean cold returned soup and got another 4 bowls of cold soup. Third course turkey dry and stuffing and potatoes not good. Fourth course cheese cake ok.
Everything about the meal was cheap and designed to make the hotel a good profit at the expense of its customers. Would not go back here for any reason. Please stay away you will be all the better for it.

Room Tip: Don't go here

We booked for a family party night of 7 for 21 Dec. We usually go to the Normandy Hotel for party nights but thought we would give the nearer to home hotel a try. When we arrived we were shown to a table in the main dining area which held 26 people only as well as a couple who were asked to join the area to make it look busier and who had ordered macaroni cheese!!! The woman said she was embarrassed! We queried the situation and were told a party of 70 had cancelled due to bereavement. The owner Ann and her Manager were present and I asked why we were not contacted to give the option of cancelling as this was surely not a party night with under 30 people present. The tables were removed in the pizza area for a make shift dance floor and a DJ set up. It was embarrassing really but Ann asked us to stay for the experience. Ann returned during our starters and offered us another party night in another hotel with an overnight stay but as there are 4 grandchildren and dogs to be looked after we could not accept but did consider another party night in January which Ann offered but she said she would return after our meal. She did not return. Most of the party had left by 11 pm so we joined the public lounge area where patrons who happened to pop in for pint ended up dancing at the pizza area. A few patrons asked what the event was!!! The Manager at one point asked the waiting staff to go on the dance floor to start the night off which they were embarrassed about!! The DJ was awful and all in all it was a costly unhappy night. With the expense for a family to book and prepare for an event to be given a meal in cramped areas was definitely not a party night. I visisted the hotel the next day and Ann was not available. I left my number with her Manager but she did not contact me. I called the hotel again and she was not available so on my way home from work I dropped in and again she was not there so I left a typed letter for Ann but to date I have not heard from any member of staff!!!
I would not recommend this hotel and the customer service is unacceptable. I still await a reply with an insight to recompense for our so called party night!!

We would like to thank Ann and her team for the extended support they offered to us recently at my neices wedding reception at Crowood. They saved the day for us by their timely actions when my father became ill. Ann sought professional medical advice and on learning my father needed to be seen at A&E facilitated transport to get him there quickly. My father was admitted for 2 nights and is now recovering at home in Nottinghamshire.
The Garnkirk Suite looked amazing all decorated for the wedding celebration - Ann rearranged the schedule and despite the long delay the wedding breakfast was delicious and the revised timings worked really well - many thanks!

Thanks to a cracking Mothers Day offer from the sister hotel Burnhouse Manor, a complimentary room was used paying only for dinner and breakfast at total cost of less than £50 per couple.

Total compliments to the chef on that one, gluten free diet completely catered for and nothing too much trouble. Food was first class, well presented and perfectly balanced!

Hotel well decorated and rooms spacious enough. Only thing that stopped getting an excellent review was room has electric heating and could maybe have been turned on prior to arrival as it was nippy outside.

All in all, lets just say we will be back!

We booked a Christmas Party night for 7th December last month, and were reassured that this was fine, Deposits were taken and booking was confirmed. Three different members of staff confirmed the booking in separate ocassions and one took a full payment from one of the party whilst still reassuring her that the party night was booked. Next morning, after the full payment had been processed I might add, we received a call stating that they had no kowledge of our booking and there was a wedding that night, despite their advertisement that it was a Christmas Party night!!! I am sure the bride and groom would have loved that!!! We were not given an apology despite the fact that three different staff had previously confirmed the booking and taken deposits and one full payment. The refund of these is still being processed despite this happening two weeks ago!

We have contacted Anne Peters, the owner, to complain, and were told by "Fiona" that she would contact us the next day. Three emails and three weeks later, no contact! This hotel is the most disorganised hotel next to Fawlty Towers. This appears to be the sole responsibility of Anne Peters who has, to date, not aplogised nor called or responded to our emails to her. The staff appear to be totally confused as to what is happening in their own hotel and we are now several hundreds of pounds out of pocket as we had to book something else at the last minute and it has cost a fortune!

Given that Anne Peters main source of business centres around hospitality, her customer service across the board is appalling.. The one star rating is soley due to "Fiona" responding otherwise they would get nothing. We are extremely dissappointed in Anne Peters and her total lack of sympathy, customer care and conatct, and would not recommend this person to run a menage never mind a hotel chain. Thanks Anne!!!!

Was at a party hotel lovely staff nice buffet disgrace! dont know how much the people paid for it but i would be embaressed to give this to my guests, chicken dippers sandwiches, sausage rolls, come on move with the times thats 70s stuff. For a modern hotel i think they should rethink the buffet menu.I had been told by some one else who had also been there that they had been put off with buffet as there was not enough for their guests.
