Very good hotel in the very heart of glasgow. Excellent Continental Breakfast. Room a bit tiny compared to american standards but excellent for the Scottish ones. The staff is very friendly and helpful. There is a taxi rank just outside the door ad lots of buses. the railway station just in front of the hotel. Nice boutique hotel, ideal for business and leisure travellers

  • Liked — The bathroom
  • Disliked — the size of the room
  • Tips/Secrets: — ask for a take away breakfast if you are on hurry. staff very helpful!!!!

The location of this hotel is a big plus and probably it's best feature. The web makes it look very flash, however it doesn't deliver. Hotel is opposite the mail station and near the shops and pubs of Glasgow. Reception is small but staff are very friendly and polite. The room was a real dissapointment. Badly planned and dull. The room was absolutely tiny, there were stains on the cushions on the bed and the room was so tiny it was difficult to get the bathroom door open. The bathroom was clean, modern and nice. The noise from the road outside was really bad. The room was a good price but I'd be reluctant to stay again.

We booked the Artto Hotel as it was advertised on Travelzoo [""].It looked fabulous on the internet, very modern and we were really looking forward to it. As we had just moved house and we were looking for a relaxing break.
We drove from Newcastle Upon Tyne.It was a nightmare to find in the centre of Glasgow as it is a one way system. As there is no parking at the hotel we parked a t the NCP car park.
On arrival at Reception we were given our key.The first room we were offered was awful right on the main road you could hear all the traffic,as well as being very shabby.
We went back to reception and asked for another room this was at the back you could hear the generators and it too was awful.
I went back to reception and said that this room better be ok.
The third room offered was even worse, the nets at the window were black, with burn holes in them. The carpet was full of stains and a large orange stain, and the counterpane on the bed had stains,we didnt stay.We left immediately and drove all the way back to Newcastle Upon Tyne, to our lovely clean comfortable home.Dont stay at this hotel, its the worst I have seen.
I have written to the owner Mr Sareb Sighn to tell him of my disgust.

Stayed here with a group of 14 friends October this year. Overall the place is pretty good (served our purpose anyway i.e. somewhere central to lay our heads). The rooms are small but ok, was slightly alarmed by hardcore porn freely available on the room tv. Glad there were no children in our party!! Beds comfy, our room was at the front and next to the lift and can honestly say noise was not a problem.

My only gripe about the hotel is with one particular member of staff. The reception staff are great and are very helpful but there was one bloke (dont know his name, small, bald and scruffy looking) who let the place down significantly. Our first experience with him was one night when my friend could not figure out how the tv in her room worked. She called reception who said they would send someone up. Moments later there was a knock at her door and when she answered this weird man was there - not in uniform or even smartly dressed. She was a little taken aback but let him in to look at the tv. He then proceeded to yank at wires coming from the in room hair dryer asking her why it was there. He claimed that the hotel didnt do hairdryers and she must have wired it up and that was why the tv was not working. My friend explained that the hair dryer was there when she got there and that there was no plug - the wire went straight in to the wall so how could she have wired it in? He continued to mutter and stumble about - she was convinced he was drunk as a newt - until she ordered him out of the room.

Next morning at breakfast and we've all heard the tale of the tv. Not to disappoint the guy is also helping serve breakfast. Staggering around, again not in uniform and what a treat - flies are down too - lovely!! Just what you want to see whilst trying to eat cornflakes. Another friend asks for an Earl Grey tea, he says they dont do that and adds - you know where the shops are!! What a charmer.

To be honest it was all a bit surreal, the rest of the staff were so professional and helpful and yet didnt seem to realise this weirdo wandering about the place. It was like he wasnt there - just a figment of our imaginations. Sadly though he was real, really creepy. I would stay at the Artto again, but hope that this person had left or was not on 'duty'. Still dont know what he actually did!!!

Although it was clean, the hotel room was exceedingly small. This did not bother me a great deal; however, while I was searching the TV channels, I was shocked to discover that hard core porn (possibly illegal porn with underage-looking girls) was shown in-house and freely available to all guests. I've since reported it to Strathclyde Police.
