“Bar - lovely! But the rooms are a dump!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed December 27, 2012 via mobile

Stayed here with my boyfriend for a night! The rooms are very basic no soap to wash your hands, hairs in the bath and hasn't been hoovered in ages. Stayed in room 104 right above the smoking are at the back very loud! Girl at the reception didn't know anything that we asked about car parking etc and was as dour faced as they come. The indian restaurant that is joined to the hotel isnt up to much either! Wouldn't stay here again! I would only recommend this hotel to young people staying here after a night out who will only be in the room to sleep!

Arrto Hotel is not a luxury hotel, but it is convenient and welcoming address with a bright lobby and a helpful and accommodating staff. It is in a good location and a good way to visit Glasgow without spending a fortune.

The hotel seems to have been recently upgraded, but there were small problems needing repair that had not been attended to. This included the ethernet port in our room – we could connect our laptop only by holding the cable in place with scotch tape. The tiled surfaces in the bathroom/shower were clean but showed some discoloured and water damaged areas. We also found the electrical service was not easy to understand – an excessive number of switches with no obvious relation to the lights or outlets they controlled. Likewise the switch for the bathroom light was outside of the bathroom itself, meaning one could not use the facility at night without throwing bright light upon one’s sleeping companion.

Our only meal at the hotel was at breakfast which was of average quality, but the personnel was amiable and charming.

The rooms were a very pleasant surprise as reception desk seemed more like part of bar/cafe which you step straight into.
Indian restaurant which forms part of hotel very good and great value.
We were visiting family so to be able to jump on the train right across road was ideal.

My wife & i stayed here for the w/end. Booked it independently we didnt do breakfast so cant advise. The room was ok 3rd floor 302 Very quite never heard a sould and located beside lift. The Room was spacious but we felt the carpet was very Grubby and looked like it had old blood/or Blackcurrant juice all over it. There was free WIFI and if you take laptop you get a cable from Reception to use in your room. One major complaint which really wasnt the fault of the Hotel was that we had no hot water for showering as 1 of the 2 boilers recently installed kept cutting out. The bar area is wellmaintained and clean with a nice Tiger beer for sale. We eat out as we had quite a lot to do. Overall we would stay there again. Bus stop and taxi rank right out side hotel as well as Central Train Station.

Room Tip: Ask for a room at the back (Peaceful). Also there is a heated smoking area out the back

Have just returned from weekend away at this hotel and felt had to write a review....
On a positive note the hotel is in a fab location, literally over the road from Glasgow central station.
Staff were very pleasant and helpful...
Now the negatives!!!
The rooms are small and we kept banging leg off bed to get into bathroom.
Bathroom was very shabby, fixtures were hanging off walls, mirror had stains on it and generally looked unclean!
Room was above a bar so the noise was ridiculous till late on.
Reception is in the middle of the Aria bar so if u needed to speak to receptionist then had no chance if bar was full as couldn't hear yourself think..
Corridor we were on stank of cigarette smoke despite it being a non smoking hotel..
Ceilings in corridor looked like they were about to fall down...
I wouldn't normally write a review but felt needed to on this occasion as the hotel I thought was pricey for what we got. However if your not bothered bout where you stay then for location this is perfect.
We had read reviews on this hotel before going but stupidly thought the hotel would have rectified some of the previous complaints from other customers!!

If you value a nights sleep don't book this hotel. The noise from the bars on the street is incessant loud music people talking at full volume just below your window noise from traffic all night we didn't sleep a wink. Couple that with a cold room and an awful breakfast we don't usually complain but we wanted to prevent others wasting their money!
