7 of us visited the Victoria 6 weeks ago not knowing what to expect as it was our former boozer for a few decades. It was lovely to see it newly decorated while still retaining the old bar and gantry, so it was somewhat nostalgic. However nothing prepared us for the delicious food, which was a very pleasant surprise. Haddock and chips with mushy peas has got to be the best in Glasgow, really fresh fish with real chips, well worth the £8.95. In fact it is as good as it gets.
I made a return visit with another friend last week, and just had to have the haddock again, this time I managed to cram in a lovely cheesecake dessert, again it was excellent. Throw in a bottle of top quality wine (priced keenly) and we were in heaven. Top marks to the French chef, and staff could not have been nicer. Will definitely be haunting this establishment more often. Beer garden great for summer.
