“NOT NOTIFIED IT WAS CLOSED- RUINED VALENTINES DAY!!!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed February 14, 2015

My son gave us a Groupon voucher for tea for two but when we turned up it was closed. The door was eventually answered by a young man who gave the excuse that the tank had burst and he was only there to make the place safe. However an earlier reviewer on tripadvisor as you can see was turned away due to smell of paint on a different date.We were informed they would not be doing tea for two anymore when they did re open and to contact groupon. The day before our booking i received an email from SAINT JUDES to remind me of my booking-HOW STRANGE!!! We were not the only people who had turned up.-...They also had Groupon vouchers....SPECIAL DAY WASTED-THANKS FOR NOTHING.

“Under new management overnight but they haven't got a clue!”

Friend gave us a present that she bought for us on Groupon and we booked then turned up only to be told it couldn't be used, smell of paint and tradesmen everywhere but still trading.

“Unimpressed”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed January 30, 2015

I was given a groupon voucher for St Judes for afternoon tea as a gift. It was for a sparkling afternoon tea for 2, the fizz we recieved was nice enough with a small raspberry in it. But that is where what was nice ended. The cake stand arrived with a few small sandwiches, a mini scone each and two small pieces of cake each. The sandwiches were fine and so were the cakes but it was not impressive or particuarly exciting.
I asked if we could see a cocktail menu, and after a few minutes was given a list of 4 types of cocktail which we could have in a tea pot (but one of the only 4 options was not available so there were 3 choices!). The waiter told us if we wanted any other cocktails we would have to go downstairs to the other bar. So if we wanted more than 3 options of cocktail we had to finish our afternoon tea and move to the other bar to get more choice.
I thought this was ridiculous, i could not believe that they would settle us in for our afternoon tea and then tell us we had to move if we wanted more than their very limited choice of drinks.

I was unimpressed at first but after this I would never recommend st judes to anyone for afternoon tea, it is not worth the £15 you pay for groupon never mind the £29 you would pay full price.
We left after finishing our food and went elsewhere for cocktails.

“Disappointing”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed January 5, 2015

I booked this on the 30/12/14 @ 12.30, I phoned the next day to change it to 13.30 which was ok. When we arrived they had no record of this, so there was no table ready for us.

Sandwiches were dry, cakes were not great, scones were ok.

The room itself seemed dirty and untidy.

“More like a 'sour cream tea'”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed January 3, 2015

First impressions of the building wasn't great. We got taken upstairs and shown to a table where we were almost sat on the people next to us so asked yo be moved and that seat was even more stained. The fabric grey seats were badly stained. Got told had to pay extra for tea/coffee.
Glass of fizz came and then waited about 15 mins for the so called cream tea. Others had the proper stands but when ours came it was a 2 tier stand and the sandwiches were on a little tray.... Filling of sandwiches not great 3 tuna quarters and 5 ham????. Bread slightly stale. Little cakes were nice. The miniature scone was nice but how many cream teas do have squirty cream with?????
Also service was terrible
Won't be returning ever again..
