This is a good typical European hotel. The rooms are a bit small and spartan compared to most in the US for the same price range. The accomadations were clean, the staff was friendly and responsive. The bed was comfortable. My biggest complaint was that my room (#301) overlooked Central Train station so if you want to have the window open to reduce stuffiness, it can get a bit noisey. To their credit, they have a double window setup that shuts out the noise quite well. Ugly view tho. I did take a smoking room just because I do like an occasional cigar and there's no smoking except for outside. Hence the inconvienience with the noise with the window open. I seem to get stuck in a corner or a not so good room usually tho perhaps because I'm usually a solo business client and normally just make the best of what they give me unless it's very bad. The trains, however, do not run between about 12:00am and about 5-6am.Request a room overlooking the river and I think it would be just fine. Even for a smoking room it was quite smell free. I didn't smell any stale smoke and no cigerette burns on the floor or furniture. The bar food was good, tho a bit highley priced, I didn't try the regular restaraunt (altho the menu looked yummy). I was told I needed reservations and since I didn't know when I would be available day to day, I either ate in the bar or went out. Lots of shopping, food and convienience stores nearby within walking distance. Lots of pubs in walking distance also, no matter what sort of atmosphere you enjoy.I would recommend this hotel for either the business traveler or a vacation traveler who is watching thier budget. Could have something to do with the US doillar being quite weak against the British pound tho.
The immediate neighborhood looks a bit seedy but I never had any trouble with "undesireables" bothering me as I came and went. It's only a few blocks to a very nice shopping districe (Buchannan Street)
The internet charges are outragous, 5 pounds/hr or 10/24hrs. That's $10 and $20 US. but there is also an internet cafe and starbucks with access nearby. In-room coffee is instant (gaaakkk), no room service but you can get tray service if you don't mind making the pickup yourself. All in all, I would stay there again.

  • Liked — cleanliness, convienience to shopping and resterauts
  • Disliked — the view, train noise

After reading some of the earlier reviews I was a bit apprehensive about this hotel, but having just stayed at the Jurys Inn with my mother for four weeks as she underwent medical treatment, I was very impressed with the service and facilities. All the staff we encountered were helpful and polite and responded to all our requests. The girls in the restaurant where we had all our meals were always welcoming and friendly (especially Christina). We requested rooms with stunning views of Glasgow and also appreciated the clean spacious bathrooms. The breakfasts were also delicious and I was impressed to see the manager of the hotel helping his staff with the breakfast rush. I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel with the added bonus of being beautifully situated in the downtown core for shopping, museums and sightseeing. I stayed at the SAS Radisson last July and the Jurys Inn compares favorably, and probably better in terms of the friendly service!

This is a very good hotel to stay at as it is close to all the nightlife and the shopping centre. It is great value for money and very clean. It is also close to the station and it is very easy to get out of town to the highlands. Do have a look round the websites for special deals as prices do vary.

This hotel is a credit to the manager and all the staff who work there.

I would highly recommend this hotel.

Just home from a 4 night stay at this hotel. Had a wonderful stay, no problems at all. Very efficent check in and out, all staff were very polite. Hotel is ideally located, 5 mins walk from train station, shopping district on your doorstep. Went to see a concert in the royal glasgow concert hall, it was only a 10 min walk. No noise at night, friendly security staff at night insured non guests don't gain entry, Rooms were spotless, cleaned every day.

This hotel excelled itself. We arrived at 1130hrs and they happily let us have our rooms. The rooms are exceptionally clean as were all the public areas. Both rooms had a double and a single bed in, still leaving plenty of space to move around. Breakfast was buffet style and proved to be excellent. A fuse blew in the room leaving us in darkness, the hotel staff arrived within two minutes of reporting it. Location is great, just a couple of minutes walk from Central Train Station and a few seconds from the river Clyde. The main shopping streets are very close. Soud proofing is good. This is a top notch 3 star hotel and I would have no hesitation in recommending it to anyone. The front line staff and back of house staff are all to be complemented on their performance.
