We got a great rate thru expedia for 8 nights (Jul 30-Aug 7). The front desk staff were friendly, helpful and accomodating. We flew overnight and only had to wait until 10:30am to get into our room. We got a top floor (11th) room overlooking the clyde and the city, which was a bonus. The room could be described as 'spartan', but i thought it was nice with clean lines and bright, but not garish colours. It was not luxurious, but very pleasant. The bathroom was large, spotlessly clean and had a tub and power shower. I would have liked a chest of drawers, but the small hanging bar and shelves did the job. The air conditioning was great and although we faced a busy street, we couldn't hear the traffic and late night partygoers. We did not eat at the restaurant as breakfast was not included in our rate, but went half a block up jamaica street to the crystal palace pub for an inexpensive scottish brekkie (1.99GBP) and the cheapest coffee in glasgow (cheap but good at 69p). This is also a good place to have a pint and people watch. We had drinks, fish and chips and nachos in the hotel bar one night. They were very good but quite expensive and we got the distinct impression that the staff in there would prefer to just serve drinks and not have to deal with food. There is internet in the lobby (one computer) that costs 1GBP for 11 minutes, which i found a bit extortionate. If you go across the street to the euro-hostel, it's a bit better at 20 minutes for a pound and there are 3 computers. Euro-hostel also let us use the laundry room, which was great. One of the small complaints i had about the location (which is totally central and close to st. enoch square shopping centre and subway line, lots of restaurants and bars, central train station etc.) is the slightly rowdy bar crowd on the streets at night. we were not bothered really, but the huge crowds of young partiers can be intimidating, especially if you are walking alone. Overall, the jurys inn is a very nice place to stay at a reasonable price. If you want lots of pretty cushions on the bed and a basket of smellies in the bath, try the malmaison. For my money, the Jurys was perfect.
