My partner and myself have just returned from a 3 day shopping break in Glasgow. We stayed at Jurys Inn which is right in the centre of Glasgow literally 10 minutes walk from St Georges Square. Our room was great located on the 11th floor overlooking the river and central station (of which there was no noise!!) On checking in we asked for a room on a high floor with a view and we got exactly what we asked for. Prior to arriving I checked various internet sites to get the best price and Jurys Doyle Hotels site had the best price. £49 for 2 adults per night(breakfast not included). This is the best deal you will get. Do not book breakfast as there is a Wetherspoons bar located 1 minute walk from the hotel and you an get a fabulous breakfast for £2.79 in comparison to Jurys which charge £9.50. To get to the main shopping area from the hotel walk out of front entrance turn left walk to the first set of traffic lights turn right and you walk approx 10 minutes to get to the St Georges Square area where the Buchanan Galleria Shopping Mall is located plus all the nicer shops in Glasgow. Do not even think twice about booking Jurys Inn it is great. Staff are really nice on reception everything is new as the hotel is not even open 2 years. Also if you arrive and its good weather why not try the lovely boat ride just located to the left of the hotel 1 minutes walk behind it. Its great. I would without doubt recommend anyone to stay here!!

I got a good last minute deal on the internet through a broker (the hotel itself had quoted me an outrageous price). The hotel is very handy if you're travelling by train. Just make sure that your room is at the back of the hotel. My first room was at the front and from 8 pm onwards my ears were assaulted by the constant boom from the pub across the street. My first room was also in the lobby of the 4th floor, so I also had to endure alot of noise from the lift pinging and people passing by. After a couple of hours I contacted reception who found me a room at the back of the hotel and down a corridor. Even though I was now looking out on a train station I had peace and quiet at last. The rooms at the back are treble-glazed and you would need super-sonic hearing to notice the trains coming in and out.

We stayed here expecting to have a good ol' scottish experience....but we were wrong. You are better off staying in Edinburgh. Glasgow is a city....it seemed drab, except for the shopping center (St. Enoch) and the Science Center (but that does not define "Scotland") Now, the hotel was very accomodating...FORTUNATELY...because we stayed in most of the time. We walked around the shopping areas just to be harrassed by teenage thugs...and most people there...sadly.....stared with discriminating eyes!
My husband and I are avid travellers...and we've never felt this "small" in any place...EVER. This is a CITY...yeah it's close to the train station...restaurants....etc...but if you want to feel the warm and happy friendly scottish atmosphere...find another city to stay in all together.

(PS...I have scottish friends....this is not by any means a way to degrade the city...tourist have preferrences...people have different reasons for coming to this place. Unfortunately, it did not cater to ours)

We stayed there on a Saturday night. The hotel is in the middle of it all, but outside at night was a bit scary. I didn't realize Glasgow was so rough. We actually witnessed a fight on the sidewalk from our cab. I'm from Washington, DC, and this place intimidated me. That said, the hotel was an excellent value. The staff wasn't overly friendly, but they weren't hostile, either. The room was squeaky clean, modern, and comfortable. The quality of accommodations exceeded my expectations. I would recommend the Jurys, but be wary if you're thinking about staying there on the weekend.

Myself and two friends stayed for one night, we found the room to be very nice and ideal for our short stay. The staff we thought were also very friendly and helpful, until we had a problem! Someone, a man only wearing his briefs managed to gain access to our room early in the morning, which as you can imaging was a bit of a surprise for everyone!!!! When checking out we complained to management who informed as that the card used to enter our room was that of a supervisor! We are still waiting for a response from the Hotel as to their findings of how this could possible happen?!
