After reading other reviews of this hotel on Trip Advisor, I sent an email to Peter Stack (General Manager) about a week before our visit to request the corner room on the top floor which had been highly recommended as being one of the best in the hotel.
On arrival, we found that our request had been noted and we were checked into Room 1107 by Emma at Reception who then went to get Garrie, the Duty Manager, to welcome us to the hotel. Both of them couldn't have been more polite and helpful in ensuring that our stay was as pleasant as possible. We almost felt like visiting VIPS! (Thanks, Garrie, for the breakfast vouchers by the way. Much appreciated!).
Our room had the most wonderful views over the Clyde and a very comfy large bed, all the usual facilities and a shower which was one of the best I've ever had in a Jurys hotel. Despite all our best efforts, we couldn't quite figure out how to increase the room temperature so called down to Reception to ask for advice. Within minutes, one of the Chambermaids (Anna) was at our door offering her help and brought us a portable heater in case we needed it (we eventually figured out how to adjust the heating ourselves).
The bar was usually busy and we did have a little trouble finding a member of staff to take our lunch order on the first day, but our food arrived quickly and was of reasonable standard for the price we paid.
The breakfast buffet was well stocked and offered a wide variety of choice including many different fresh fruits, yoghurt, compotes and cereals as well as the usual 'full Scottish' fare plus toast/rolls/croissants etc. Certainly more than enough to set you up for the day!
I have stayed in other Jurys Inn hotels around the country (and plan to again in the next few months) and have always been pleased with the level of service received for the price paid. The Glasgow hotel certainly offers 5 star service for a 3 star price and I very much look forward to a return visit when I'm next in the area.
