I booked this hotel on the web due to its location primarily. We flew into Glasgow International Airport and got the Glasgow Flyer bus shuttle into the centre of the city, less than 10 mins walk from the hotel. Due to extremely early flights we arrived at the hotel at about 9 in the morning, I was hoping to just leave the bags and head away to do some sight seeing leaving check in until later in the day, however a very helpful young lady on reception asked if I could wait 15 mins as she could have a room prepared and check me in early. This was more than I had hoped for and I was quite impressed. The delay was because of some technical problem with the booking in system and while we were waiting we were offered complimentary breakfast. It’s such a pleasure to deal with helpful and service orientated staff.
We stayed in the hotel for 2 nights and ate in the bar on 1 of those nights, the food was of good quality and reasonably priced. Decor of the lobby and bar was crisp and friendly, plenty of seating available. On a dining note, exit the hotel and turn left, walk for 5 mins to a very nice Chinese buffet restaurant with great food.
The room was a reasonable size and contained 1 double bed, remote tv, tea and coffee making facilities. Bathroom had a full size bath with a good powerful shower.
The hotel is a couple of mins walk to Central Station, which makes it an ideal location to venture further outside Glasgow. We got a train to Edinburgh on one of the days for £9.30 each return. There was no noise from the trains due to the well insulated windows. About 10mins walk is George Square where the city bus tours run from, St Enoch Shopping centre and other well known spots are all within 15 mins walk.
All in all, great staff, nice hotel, good location. I would recommend it.
