I have just returned from a one-night stay in the Jury's Inn in Glasgow. It was in my opinion a very non-enjoyable stay and I was glad it was just for one night. It was very pricey as well at a cost of £87 for the night (excluding breakfast too which was an outrageous £9.95 for a very average meal)

The room itself was ok, very basic I thought and did what it needed to do. The room was facing a very disgusting large high rise Hostel with loud parties going on in nearly every single room. It was very difficult to get any sleep at all. It was very off putting altogether.

The hotel bar was very small as well and the prices of the drinks were very expensive as well compared to anywhere else in the city that I have frequented.

The hotel staff were very unfriendly as well and when I asked one of the staff to show me where the nearest pay phone is (because the two in the lobby were not working), he sent me on a wild goose chase around the city when there was one directly across the road which I discovered when I got back, much to me disappointment after walking around for 30 minutes in the rain trying to locate the one that he sent me too. He even gave me a cheeky smile when I walked back in the door of the hotel soaked from head to too.

Anyway, I could go on but that was my first and last experience of the Jury's Inn in Scotland

Dear Trip Advisor

I am disappointed to read your review. I will investigate the phone incident as this is far from our normal standard of service. Most of our reviews comment on how friendly the reception team are.

I would like the opportunity to discuss the issues raised. Should you decide to do so I can be emailed at peter_stack@jurysinns.com.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Sincerely

We have just returned from a 2 night break at this Hotel. We booked it with Superbreak and thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
Check in/out were quick and easy and duty manager came over and ensured we had a good stay on check out.

The breakfast was lovely and was open until 11am unlike other hotels which have finished at 10.

Our room was 1107 on the top floor which overlooked the River Clyde & had a great view. The triple glazing cancelled out most of the noise from road and rail and we slept soundly. The bed was huge and the room was very clean and modern. The shower was powerful and there were Lux & Dove Shower Dispensers in our bathroom. The towels were a little small and could have been better but that was our only minor gripe.

It was just a 2 minute walk onto Buchanan Street and 5 minutes to the Buchanan Galleries Shopping Centre.

Overall we loved this hotel & will try others in the chain in future.

  • Liked — The views from our room, cleanliness.
  • Disliked — The size of the towels.

myself and my husband and 2 teenagers stayed in this hotel for 5 nights on a bed and breakfast basis. We needed a smoking room and I wanted my teenagers close by - the hotel initially chcked us onto different floors and when I explained what I required they very quickly amended my reservation and put the 4 of us in connecting rooms on the smoking floor. The rooms where clean and comfortable and the chap who dealt with our
check in was extremly polite and helpful (sorry I can't remember his name ). There was a large crowd of football suporters in the hotel and the bar was busy - however the fans were polite and great fun and the bar staff where very efficient.
The only critisisim I would have was that the pillows were to soft! and chips at the bar were very expensive - 2.95 for a very small portion!
however as a native glaswegian I would certainly recommend this hotel to my friends as it is extremely well placed, good service and very friendly staff.

Dear Trip Advisor

Thank you for a great review. I will find out who checked you in, as he will be entitled to a bonus for getting a mention in your review.

I will also try and find out what room you stayed in a put new pillows in. Finally I had a word with the chef and told him to be more generous with his portions.

Thanks again for the great review and if you are back in your hometown again do hesitate to let us know. my email address is peter_stack@jurysinns.com.

I stopped at the Jurys for 4 nights and booked the hotel on the basis of price and it's central location.

I was given a room on the fourth floor facing the train station. The room itself was very clean and was what you would expect for thge price. Even though the room had triple glazing the trains could still be heard passing the room.

For the first two nights I had no particular problem however on the last two nights the next room had a procession of people comming and going all the time until 2.30 in the morning and every time they left they slammed the bedroom door (I think a previous reviewer must have been there at the same time as me as they had a similar experience). The people in the room were also smoking despite it being a non smoking room and their smoke came through the air conditioning vent. I complained to the front desk staff twice and nothing seemed to have been done about it.

Each floor seems to be split between smoking and non smoking rooms and as you approach the lift and the smoking section the smell of smoke is very bad.

I also left the sign on my bedroom door to tell the staff that the room should be cleaned, this was at 8.30am yet when I got back at 4pm the room was still not cleaned and I had to wait in reception for 30 minutes whilst it was being cleaned.

If I were to stop in Glasgow again I don't think I would consider stopping at the Jurys Inn again.

Dear Trip Advisor

Thank you for your review. To begin with I would like to apologise for the issues you experienced.

Most of our windows are triple glazed and are usually very effective. However like most things they do need repairs from time to time to ensure they are doing the job they are designed to do i.e. keep the noise out. I would be grateful if you could advise me via email which room you stayed in and I will arrange for this issue to be resolved.

The first two floors in the hotel are designated smoking rooms, 2nd and 3rd. All other room are non-smoking only. The room next door must have been smoking in a non smoking room, which I agree is totally unacceptable.

Ideally I would like to discuss the issues raised with you in person and try and restore your faith in Jurys Inn Glasgow. I have read your other reviews and in fairness to you, you do normally give good reviews. As I am sure your will appreciate I would not want Jurys Inn Glasgow to be your bad experience. I would be grateful if you could contact me at peter_stack@jurysinns.com.

On a more positive note I am glad that your first two nights were enjoyable.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Sincerely

Peter Stack

Stayed Sunday to Friday in a twin room on a business trip.

Travel is incredibly easy, literally a minute and a half walk from the Glasgow Central train station and opposite a multi storey car park (cheap too for city centre prices). The city centre shops are quite literally on the door step of the hotel

Arrival

On arriving you are greeted with a long reception with a bar to the left and a restaurant and breakfast area to the right. The reception staff was helpful, smiley and fast.

Room

The room overlooked the train station platforms in the immediate foreground but overlooked the river of the city providing excellent views. The triple glazing was incredible, the outside noise even the noise of the trains just disappeared when they were shut.

Our room had disabled features in the bathroom which meant people with accessibilities could easily use this hotel, but would probably have to request it in advance.

The room had air conditioning, a TV (with scart enabled for use with DVD/Games consoles, a hair driving and multi voltage shaver adapters. One thing to note though, there was no iron in the room. The bed was fitted with sheets in 3 over layers (not a duvet). The air conditioning worked well to ensure the room was comfortable. I did find the pillows slightly uncomfortable because they were a little small.

Food

There is a choice of places to eat in the hotel, the bar, the restaurant (two menu's available). I did not sample the bar menu, however my colleagues did and said the portions were big and was rather nice. I chose to eat in the restaurant the 5 nights I was there and the service was extremely quick and accommodating. The supervisor of the restaurant was extremely pleasant and always made a point of coming over to talk to you, make you feel welcome and valued. (Good luck with university by the way)
The food itself was always delicious, all of my colleagues and myself ate well every night, and we never had reason to complain about anything. The lamb shank was a personal favourite. One thing to note however was the Soufflé is on the menu but not available anymore as not enough people order it apparently.
The desserts are delicious, whilst not that much choice on the desserts though.

Overall experience

The jurys inn certainly made my stay very enjoyable, they were well organized, friendly and do everything they can to please their customers. I would recommend this hotel to people looking to visit Glasgow for any reason. A very pleasant experience!
