Stayed Sunday to Friday in a twin room on a business trip.

Travel is incredibly easy, literally a minute and a half walk from the Glasgow Central train station and opposite a multi storey car park (cheap too for city centre prices). The city centre shops are quite literally on the door step of the hotel

Arrival

On arriving you are greeted with a long reception with a bar to the left and a restaurant and breakfast area to the right. The reception staff was helpful, smiley and fast.

Room

The room overlooked the train station platforms in the immediate foreground but overlooked the river of the city providing excellent views. The triple glazing was incredible, the outside noise even the noise of the trains just disappeared when they were shut.

Our room had disabled features in the bathroom which meant people with accessibilities could easily use this hotel, but would probably have to request it in advance.

The room had air conditioning, a TV (with scart enabled for use with DVD/Games consoles, a hair driving and multi voltage shaver adapters. One thing to note though, there was no iron in the room. The bed was fitted with sheets in 3 over layers (not a duvet). The air conditioning worked well to ensure the room was comfortable. I did find the pillows slightly uncomfortable because they were a little small.

Food

There is a choice of places to eat in the hotel, the bar, the restaurant (two menu's available). I did not sample the bar menu, however my colleagues did and said the portions were big and was rather nice. I chose to eat in the restaurant the 5 nights I was there and the service was extremely quick and accommodating. The supervisor of the restaurant was extremely pleasant and always made a point of coming over to talk to you, make you feel welcome and valued. (Good luck with university by the way)
The food itself was always delicious, all of my colleagues and myself ate well every night, and we never had reason to complain about anything. The lamb shank was a personal favourite. One thing to note however was the Soufflé is on the menu but not available anymore as not enough people order it apparently.
The desserts are delicious, whilst not that much choice on the desserts though.

Overall experience

The jurys inn certainly made my stay very enjoyable, they were well organized, friendly and do everything they can to please their customers. I would recommend this hotel to people looking to visit Glasgow for any reason. A very pleasant experience!

My partner and I booked the hotel the day before we went. We booked direct with the hotel, and the receptionist was friendly and very helpful. I then emailed later and requested if possible, a smoking room and a room with a view of the River Clyde.
We had a very easy check-in the next evening, and again the receptionist was very friendly and helpful. We were allocated a smoking room, with the view I had requested.
The room was very spacious and had a lovely welcoming interior. There was a big bathroom with plent of space to move about in. There was lots of information available to us, informing us of all the ammenities the hotel, and the room, had to offer. Also there were booklets of tourist information available in the room, which is helpful if you don't know the area.
We used the hotel bar, and the staff there were friendly too. Bar prices not bad either!
Will definitely use this hotel again when having a trip to Glasgow.
Thanks to all the staff involved in our stay. You did a great job!

I thought this would be a safe bet and it very nearly was. Good location just a few minutes walk to Central Station and on the banks of the Clyde. Very pleasant check in staff.

The problem with a hotel like Jurys is that if you get the neighbours from hell it becomes a nightmare and so it proved. Paper thin walls a party of blokes drinking and laughing to the early hours slamming doors which shudder the bedroom walls to th epoint they nearly fell down and the result is not a nice night's sleep.

Yes we were unlucky but the fact is that a phonecall to reception to ask them to be quiet didn't materialise. So I have to give it a low score and sorry for doing so because I cant be dishonest - it wan't a nice stay. The Barman trying to serve coffee was a disaster and most of us gave up waiting.

  • Liked — The Pleasant Reception Desk Staff
  • Disliked — Paper thin walls - untrained barstaff

Dear Trip Advisor

Firstly please accept my sincere apologies for the unpleasant night stay you experienced.

Normally we are very strict when dealing with any noise issues on corridors. It is our policy that after the first warning is issued then the offending party is asked to leave the hotel.

This week our entire bar staff have been retrained on coffee making so as to ensure a similar situation does not arise again.

I would be grateful if you could contact me to discuss the matter at peter_stack@jurysinns.com.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Sincerely

Peter Stack

I stayed in the Jurys Inn in Glasgow with a large group of people on a work related trip.
I was so horrified by the rudeness we where shown, that I will not recommend this hotel to anyone with a bit of self respect.
As a group we were offered a third class breakfast, a completely different selection that the regular guests. Very basic and horrible, and they even watered down the orange juice!
We were also told that we were not alowed to meet up inside the hotel, and outside was nothing but masses of people smoking. We also booked a dinner for our group and the food (if you can even call it food) that was served was the most discusting crap I have ever been offered. For 20 pounds we got soup that tasted as nothing, slap of boild to mush vegtables that some lady served us as we were 6 and having a crap school dinner and some thing horrible from a packed as a desert. I was so upset that I left the table and had a banana in my room. The service was terrible, we had no drinks until dinner was almost finished, then when we finally had the drinks, there were no wine glasses, so we had our wine with the last of the desert.
And then they had the cheek to tell us, a day AFTER we arrived, that we were only allowed to have breakfast between certain times, and were rude enough to ring our rooms to remind us! But did they call the people that had asked to be rung and woken up on the right time, not that didn't happen. I could go on and on. Jurys Inn in Glasgow is a horrible hotel with the worst food on the palnet and horrible rude managers and some staff.

This hotel is just around the corner from the Central Train Station. Staff are extremely friendly and helpful. We had a room on the 11th floor (1106 I think) and it was spotlessly clean, a decent size, and with fantastic views. There was a pull across screen inside the window as well so that you could block out the outside noise during the night. Someone in another review mentioned a noisy bathroom fan, and this was no problem for us, as it seemed to go off a few minutes after you turned off the light. If you book in advance online and get a good rate for this hotel, I don't think it's worth looking elsewhere - really great value. The bar food during the day wasn't great, but the restaurant would be better and the hotel is so central you can easily go out if you like.
We also had an evening time meeting in the conference floor, and the staff were again very efficient and helpful. It is good for this type of thing, because there are a few meeting rooms, but also a nice break-out area - unfortunately there is no business centre etc. where you can print documents, but the staff at reception were really helpful and did this for us free of charge. You can also get Wi-Fi in your room for a tenner for 24 hours which is great - and because I worked in the room a bit, I met the cleaning staff who were very friendly also.

  • Liked — Friendly staff, great views, cleanliness, central location.
  • Disliked — Bar food.
