I booked this hotel after reading reviews here and expected a nice hotel with a couple of rough edges. I was pleasantly surprised when we arrived and found a good quality 4 star hotel right smack-bang in the centre of Glasgow with funky "not-chain-hotel" decor and great breakfast.

Our bed was huge, the bathroom was modern and spotless, the plasma tv picked up quite a few channels...overall everything you need for a city-break which didn't cost the earth.

Would reccommend this hotel to anyone!

This place is a little over hyped. Its ok. The bar and breakfast areas are ok. However the rooms are not a lot better than a posh travel lodge. It all feels slightly cheap. It looks nice but can see it looking worn soon. The rooms are stuffy and airless and its just not as good as the SAS Radisson.

Its value for money, but nothing exceptional I think. Not great, not bad. Just average.

I was really disappointed in this hotel. I had chosen it based on the reviews on Tripadvisor, and was surprised to discover it did not even begin to live up to some of the hype that has been posted here. Our first room was small, not very clean and had a window that let in no daylight at all as the buildings all around it were so tall. These factors coupled with the over bearing nature of the decor made the room seem terribly claustrophobic. After our first night we asked to change rooms and to be fair to the staff this request was dealt with promptly and efficiently. The second room was more spacious and had a big window but was very dirty! The window and its frame had not been cleaned in some time and were covered in the cigarette ash of a previous guest which had not been wiped away. To make matters worse this room 302 had a terrible smell which can only be descibed as coming from sewage pipes. This hotel claims to be a 4* and all I can say is that the prices are the only thing that's 4* about this place! No one likes to part with this much money and be able to see the dirt left by a previous guest and that would not happen in a 4* hotel. All in all our experience here was terrible and I will not be going back

Reception staff were very helpful and friendly. They allowed us to check in at 9am which was a real bonus.

The decor is nice, and most basic amenities are present.

Our main criticisms of the hotel was cleanliness and breakfast service. The bath was very small and had strands of hairs(!) in it that wasn't ours. The shower curtain smelled quite mouldy and really required changing.

The breakfast service was bad. The waiters were disorganised, rushing a round, and one of them was just plain rude.

Overall, it has a good location, and despite the two problems highlighted, it was probably value for money.

We picked this hotel because one room would accommodate three adults.

First impressions were good, its very central. Decorations throughout are very modern and boutiquey but not distractingly so. Our room had a double, a single and they made up a sofa bed which I slept on. We had robes and toiletries as it was an exec room, shame there is no pool but you can't have everything.

After a night on the town, we enjoyed coffees in the bar which was warm and comfortable.

We paid extra for breakfast £10.00 pp for a cooked one, but it was fantastic. I had poached eggs and smoked salmon on a muffin, with fresh fruit salad and endless coffee. Much nicer than some more expensive hotels I have been to, where you have to serve yourself, here its made up freshly, almost worth going there for even if not a guest.

Service throughout was friendly and no problem with leaving our bags to be picked up later.

Totally recommend this place, and the room would fit a family of four comfortably as well.

  • Liked — The spacious room, even with 3 people it was fine
  • Disliked — Nothing
