I stayed in the Marks Hotel for a Saturday stopover and will definately be back. The hotel is very individual with colourful but chic wallpaper in the halls and the bedrooms (not sure that my husband would have appreciated it as much as me!). My room did not look over the road and so was very quiet. The bed was extrememly comfortable. I was slightly disappointed that the range of Arran Aromatic toiletries promised on the hotel website consisted of a small bar of soap - no shampoo or moisturiser. Having stayed in a number of bland, shabby hotels in the city centre this hotel is definately a most needed breah of fresh air and is perfectly located for a days shopping or a night on the town.

  • Disliked — poor toiletries

Where do I begin

Stayed in this Hotel when it was Bewleys Hotel on a regular basis. Have seen it during its redevelopment and now that it's complete it is stunning.

The bedrooms all refurbished are very modern, stylish and particularly clean. With Arran Aromatics in the bathrooms, plasma tv's and complimentary Wifi throughout, consideration has definately been given on this redevelopment. Have stayed in several rooms and although all great the rooms at the back of the Hotel are slightly bigger but the ones at the front have some great views of the city.

Now to the ground floor, you would not even recognise it. The reception has been extended and looking stunning giving a great first impression.

The Bar and Restaurant, called One Ten Bar and Grill, although a place that local businesses seem to be using, makes you feel equally welcoming. I was on my own as a business guest and never once felt uncomfortable.

I chose to eat in the Restaurant and will stay in this hotel again even if it was just for the food. All the managers were in total control of their staff ensuring service was first class. A recommendation would definately be the surf n turf. Cooked to perfection one of the tasiest. If you only opt for two courses you will definately force yourself to a third. Although reluctant to admit (chocolate Fondant ) is heaven.

Overall the food matched the quality of the venue. I even asked where some of the materials came from as so stylish.

Breakfast was served in the same Restaurant and although a different team on duty equally as attentive. So many hotels I stay in have the same staff in the morning as night before and to tired to serve you. Another bonus point was the Breakfast service. NO HOT BUFFET of dried uninteresting food, instead all freshly prepared and served.

All in all first time I have posted a review for some time but be a shame for others visiting Glasgow to miss the chance.

Your impression when you leave will be the impression you walk in with FIRST CLASS

Stayed for three nights 24-27 August 2007. Not an invitng facade but better once in the room.
Rooms are a good size and generally well appointed. Beds comfortable. Our room on second floor facing the street suffered from traffic noise well into the night, and did not have any net curtains which means that if you want privacy during the day the curtains need to be closed to stop the office workers from across the street looking in.
We had the TV turn on ast 5 am as the previous occupant had set the alarm - hopefully feedback to the hotel will mean that their housekeeping will check this in future.
No on site eating available during our stay but looked as though it would open immediately - this will be a definate plus if prices and quality are good - they will need to be to compete with the avaialbility in the city close by.
Tea coffee and milk were limited in the room and had to ask for more, which was hapilly given, but just a couple more of each in the room would have been better.
Location is good - taxi fare from Glasgow airport £23. Close to undergorund and main line stations.
