Stayed here for 1 night (23 October) while visiting a customer in nearby Paisley. Colleagues had stayed here before and liked it, but I was sceptical due to the low price. I was wrong - it was nice.

It was a terrible, wet & windy lunchtime when we arrived. There is plenty of on site parking. We arrived at 12.00 and though the hotel seemed quiet, they would not let us check in until 14.00. As we had meetings in the afternoon, we had a light lunch at the hotel, which was very nice and returned at 17.00 to check in.

The hotel is a nice ivy covered country house style place with lovely gardens and has a very homely feel. Check in was fast and efficieint.

Room 114 was a good size with country house style fitments and big heavy curtains. Super comfortable double bed. There was no outside noise and I had a great nights sleep. The room is clean and well presented. TV and remote all worked, which cannot be said for all hotels. Trouser press was handy. The tea/coffee facilities were most welcome.

The bathroom was clean, bright and a good size, with plenty of soaps/gels etc. The extractor fan was efficient and not too noisy. Nice fluffy white towels. Shower, but no bath. Shower head had a mind of it's own and no amount of fiddling would get it to spray properly. But it was hot and wet and did the job.

We did not eat at the hotel for dinner, but went to the Uplawmoor Inn a few miles to the west. Fab food.

Breakfast was very good with plenty of juices, cereals, cheeses, meats etc. The Scottish Breakfast was excellent with lovely beef sausages and nice poached eggs. All made to order and not a hint of standing on a hot plate for hours. all very fresh and piping hot. Good coffee.

This is a really nice small hotel with good accommadation and a fine breakfast. We booked via Late Rooms and it was a super deal at £45 B&B.

If you're staying in the area on business or pleasure, I'd recommend you give it a try. It is simply stunning value. It was great in the cold and wet and would be excellent in summer with the lovely gardens to sit out and have a drink.

highly recommended at these prices.

From the moment my husband and I arrived at the Dalmeny we were amazed by the beautiful house and it's gardens. We had an early flight but the staff at the reception were so friendly and helpful and looked after our luggage until check - in, this allowed us to venture out on day one. After check-in we went to our room, which was of high standard and looked out over the beautiful gardens. The hotel had placed extra complimentry items in the room, bottled water, chocolates, shortbread etc. This was replaced daily. The room was spotless and clean. The bed was a 4 poster and comfortable.
On the 1st evening we had dinner, the staff were friendly and helpful in the restaurant. I have food allergies and they were able to adapt the menu around my needs.
Breakfast was a buffet and also a menu service. Food was wonderful and brought out hot. I had smoked haddock, while my husband had a fully cooked breakfast. The staff were friendly and the service very quick. The selection of foods were good for every need. Tables were clean and well presented. The eating area is small but the staff are very helpful with young families and bring out highchairs etc.
I really can't fault our stay, it really is a piece of heaven. It was our 20th Anniversary. Such a romantic location and ideal for weddings. I am quite angry to read some reviews which are quite negative because it's one of the best hotels I've stayed in around the world.

We loved this hotel! We booked two of the 4 poster bedrooms online for only £10 more than a standard room so we thought we were already off to a good start before we arrived. We were thrilled with our rooms - both were furnished to really high standards, and were slightly different in design thanks to the antique furniture.
This hotel was extremely quiet and we were able to relax and enjoy our night there in peace. Unfortunately, one of the beds was not so good - the mattress has certainly reached its used by date and needs replacing - putting blankets over the top of the mattress under the sheet doesnt equate to better comfort when the springs are shot... The pillows werent to anyones liking either unfortunately, they were hard as rocks. We all managed to get a good nights sleep though, and despite the poor condition of one of the beds, noone felt any worse for it the next day.
Breakfast was lovely - huge portions and cooked to order rather than buffet style.
We found the hotel and its gardens beautiful and very relaxing after a long day driving and would recommend this to people who dont like noisy hotels!

  • Liked — The style of the hotel and its decoration
  • Disliked — the terrible mattress and rock hard pillows

Stayed on a Friday night (£59 for a 4-poster room, £39 for double with single occupancy, booked through LateRooms.com). Can imagine it being less than ideal if noisy wedding receptions were going on downstairs, say on a Saturday night, but we had an very pleasant stay, and I'd recommend it as a place to stay 'off-peak'.

Attention to detail in preparing the 4-poster room was very good: chocolate mints, selection of fruit with plates, knives & fan-folded napkins, leather-bound books on writing desk, etc. Bed was v. firm, which suits me just fine. En-suite was as one would hope.

Can't comment in detail about the single room in the annex, but it looked nice (if quite compact), and its occupant spoke well of it.

Arrived at half past nine on Friday night, too late to eat (and there was no residents' bar open, either). Breakfast was good — full cooked, with cereal, juice, fruit etc. as a buffet — and the service was attentive & friendly, but not cloyingly so.

The hotel is on the very edge of the Glasgow built-up area, on the fringes of a decent residential patch. The grounds looked nice (through the rain!), and the view to low gorse-covered hills is easy on the eye, if not spectacular. The town centre of Barrhead (5 minutes' drive away) is nothing at all to write home about, but there's a good train service into town from there, and less than £5 gets you a 'Roundabout' ticket that gives you travel all day on suburban rail and the Subway.
