The actual room we stayed at the Fraser Suites in Glasgow, Scotland was very much as described in the hotel's website. The room was exactly the same as the picture shown.
We stayed in a studio apartment. The studio was spacious, functional including kitchnette with fridge, microwave, two burner stove, ironing board and iron, cutlery, utensils, cable TV, etc.
The location is fairly central, that we walked with our suitcases with wheels from the Queen Street Train Station to the hotel. We also walked from the hotel to the Airport bus stop at George Square.
The hotel is located in Merchant City the up and coming area of Glasgow with many bars, restaurants, pubs, etc. It is within walking distance to shops, downtown, the Central Station, underground station, attractions, etc.
A drawback is that because of its lively nightlife, on weekends it can be a bit noise with cars (maybe taxis, I hope!) driving by and inebriated people speaking loudly at 3:40 am! You may also hear loud neighbours in contiguous rooms. Other than that it is a pleasant place to stay in a nice area of town.

  • Liked — Spaciousness.
  • Disliked — Noise from the outside and occasionally from neighbouring suites.

Being originally from Glasgow, and now living in Germany, I had never heard of this hotel. Nice hotel situated in city centre (Merchant City Area). Rooms are spacious, with fitted kitchen -utensils-micro-hob, nice bathroom with power shower, good quality towels-bathrobes. TV-DVD Player-HiFi. Hotels in the Merchant City, which has a vast amount of bars-restaurants, your only 5 mins walk to the buzz of the city centre. Staff brilliant and helpful. Overall had a brilliant stay, which is good as we are staying in the Fraser Suites again beginning of October, when we are back over for another wedding.

Booked this property after reading mixed reviews here and some very good reviews at other websites. Booked a studio for a week-long stay during a meeting at the SECC.

Compared with the prices for conference hotels near the SECC, this place was a bargain, especially given that it came equipped with a kitchen. It was well located in the Merchant City area of Glasgow, within walking distance of trains, buses, good restaurants, and plentiful shopping.

When I first saw my room, I had a "wow" reaction. It was beautifully decorated in a modern but warm design. It was unbelievably spacious for a single person, and the wardrobe and dressers were well designed for a longer stay. There was a working desk, a comfortable couch, and a kitchen with burners, microwave/oven, and a reasonable selection of pots and pans.

More pluses: thick towels, draped over a heated towel bar in the bathroom. Plush bathrobes to wear during your stay. Free self-service laundry in the basement. Courteous staff at the front desk, who promptly located a power adapter for me when I realized that I brought the wrong kind from the states.

So, sounds like a 5-star review so far? Well, almost, but...

-- Without a/c, I found it was necessary to open the windows at night during August. This would have been okay, except that the location is rather close to bars, restaurants, and other night life. Even worse, it sounded like a herd of elephants was occupying the room directly above mine...and they were elephants who liked to go to sleep late and wake up early.

--Although the property advertises as having a fitness room, the facility was extremely limited. The one treadmill was broken, and someone else exercising in the small room told me that he asked and was told that it wouldn't be fixed for another month. There was one elliptical trainer, one rower, and one bicycle. This is simply not enough for a property of this size, especially when equipment breaks down.

--The mattress was extremely lumpy. I usually have more comfortable mattresses in much cheaper hotels.

--High charges for wireless internet in the room.

Bottom line: I ultimately found my room extremely comfortable when awake, but the quality of my sleep (noise, lumpy mattress) left much to be desired. If you are a heavy sleeper who doesn't care to exercise, and who wants a spacious room in a good area of the city, Fraser Suites is definitely worth considering.

  • Liked — Size and style of room, location in city.
  • Disliked — Noise level, lumpy mattress

Large, modern, comfortable suite. We traveled as 4 adults and this hotel was one of the most comfortable places that we stayed and was by far the best deal of our 2 week holiday. Great location for downtown, staff were friendly, rooms were clean and very modern. We would stay here again, no problem.

  • Liked — The size and comfort of the suite
  • Disliked — local area knowledge of front desk staff

I have just returned from a fantastic weeks stay at the Fraser Suites in the vibrant, funky Merchant City area of Glasgow... My PA made the booking for me as an alternative option to your bog standard hotel room - what a decision! From the moment I walked in the door to the moment I settled my account the service and staff were first class.... Nothing was an effort for the staff - the housekeeping standards were as to be expected of a 4 star property and the front office team were friendly whilst remaining professional at all times. Ideally located in the Merchant City which suited all my needs, especially the local bars and beer! The shuttle bus which runs morning and afternoon into the city centre was a pleasant surprise, especailly as I got dropped off at the office door - FREE OF CHARGE! My only negative point would be the traffic noise from the front of the property. I mentioned this to the front office team who informed me that re furbishment work had begun and that all front facing apartments were having secondary glazing installed.... They are on the last phase of this project so I would not hesitate to recommend this property to any guests travelling on business or pleasure!
My PA has already made my booking for next week and I can confirm I will never return to a hotel room again! Well done Fraser Suites Glasgow....

  • Liked — Staff and facilities
  • Disliked — LAck of WIFI in the apartments - available in reception area....
