“Lovely theatre, shame about the bar prices!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 22, 2013

We went to see 9 to 5 on opening night, 13th August and thought the show started at 7:30 (I hadn't checked the tickets properly:( so went into their bar for a drink. I had a 'Dolly Mixture' (all cocktails were show themed- nice touch) My husband had a large glass of house white (250ml?) My cocktail was £5 but when they made it up there was only one measure of gin, the other ingredients were fruit juice & mixers.
Before we paid the lady asked if we'd like to order drinks for the intermission but we declined (sooo glad!) The two drinks came to £13.50 i.e. £8.50 for a third of a bottle of mediocre plonk, later that night when we returned to the Hilton we were charged £6 for the same quantity of a far superior wine. We were so shocked we didn't question the charge, their price list was either conspicuous by it's absence or propping up the pile of bank notes they had made on the wine!
The show itself was fantastic with virtual Dolly making an appearance!

“The Rocky Horror Show”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 10, 2013

You can't beat live entertainment, good or even bad. It's infinitely better than any pre-recorded shows, disco's or karaoke. Anyway the King's is a wonderful old theatre, just get down there to see some show or other, anything will do, the atmosphere is magic. The architecture is stunning and the acoustics are amazing. The bars are well organised and you can take your drink to your seat in a plastic glass, brill. You can also pre-order you bevvy for the interval to save time. I hadn't done that but the staff were so efficient that I didn't have to queue very long to get served anyway. The show itself was spectacular, great singers and actors and way-out costumes. Of course the audience participated and a lot of them dressed up as the characters too. I couldn't wait to get home and get the wife's knickers off.............they were killing me! If you know what the show is all about you might get that joke. Anyway get yourselves along to a Pantomime at one of Glasgow's theatres, look out behind you.

“Old theatre.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 30, 2013

There are lots of great musicals ,shows and plays to see in this old theatre. It's handy to reach and there are bars for refreshments during the intervals.
Downside is that there are many steps to climb to get to higher levels for good views!
