Having stayed at hostels before, I was a little worried about what to expect. However a friend recommended this place on the basis it was cheap(with a great student discount!) and central and he was right. The location was a dream. Just far enough away from the hustle and bustle, but still within walking distance to the most popular landmarks landmarks(and the shops;)). I've read how other guests complained of some builidng noise but I slept soundlessly. Ok the beds weren't the exactly top of the range but at such a great price who cares? As for cleanliness, I didn't see much of an issue. The sheets and linen were new and the facilities were perfectly clean. The decor was a little dated but for the two nights I stayed it didnt bother me or anyone in my party.
The staff were extremely courteous and privided us with an excellent list of the city's best restuarants. I did find the the security machine on the lifts a bit confusing but the girl reception was kind enough to help me out with that one. As confusing as it was, I liked the security measures the hostel took.
The bar downstairs(osmosis)was great. Very friendly barman who discreetly handled a man a litle under the influence that was bothering our party.
Overall, couldnt be happier with this place. Absolute gem compared to some hotels I've been in. Will definitely use this place again if I return to glasgow.
