Having stayed at hostels before, I was a little worried about what to expect. However a friend recommended this place on the basis it was cheap(with a great student discount!) and central and he was right. The location was a dream. Just far enough away from the hustle and bustle, but still within walking distance to the most popular landmarks landmarks(and the shops;)). I've read how other guests complained of some builidng noise but I slept soundlessly. Ok the beds weren't the exactly top of the range but at such a great price who cares? As for cleanliness, I didn't see much of an issue. The sheets and linen were new and the facilities were perfectly clean. The decor was a little dated but for the two nights I stayed it didnt bother me or anyone in my party.

The staff were extremely courteous and privided us with an excellent list of the city's best restuarants. I did find the the security machine on the lifts a bit confusing but the girl reception was kind enough to help me out with that one. As confusing as it was, I liked the security measures the hostel took.

The bar downstairs(osmosis)was great. Very friendly barman who discreetly handled a man a litle under the influence that was bothering our party.

Overall, couldnt be happier with this place. Absolute gem compared to some hotels I've been in. Will definitely use this place again if I return to glasgow.

  • Liked — The price and the central, but quiet location
  • Disliked — Decor was a little dated but overall nothing

Thank you for taking the time to write your review on Trip Advisor.

I was pleased to read that you enjoyed your stay with us. As you clearly state we are located direct in the City centre and we do offer budget accommodation, obviously due to our City Centre location we do experience some outside noise but all our bedrooms are located from the 3rd floor up which limits the noise.

We offer 15% discount to students who book on our website and state "student" in the promotional code box. All we ask is that you provide your student ID number and confim this on arrival at the hostel.

I will certainly pass on your kind remarks to the team here at Glasgow.

I look forward to welcoming you back to Euro Hostel Glasgow again in the near future.

Best Regards

Euro Hostel has a great location - just a little bit down the street from the Central Station and easy to find. We could walk everywhere we needed to go (Buchanan, SECC and the station) with plenty of stores around for those who like to shop.

The staff we met was professional and attentive and the amenities were just as described. We had chosen a private twin for our stay and that's what we got. The room was pleasant and decently clean if somewhat worn in places. From the top bunk, I had a great view of the quite dusty and rusty top of the lockers, which wasn't so nice. The bathroom was acceptable - the floor looked horrible in the corners but was otherwise OK. The sheets had old stains but were clean and the beds were comfortable.

On the bright side, the common areas was quite nice and the free breakfast invited to eat plenty. The security was also great - you had to have a key card to even get into the parts of the hostel not open to the general public. It was also easy to get the luggage to the room, which was appreciated as we had quite a lot.

All in all, I wouldn't say it's inviting, but it's great for shorter stays and for those looking to keep a budget. I would return for a shorter stay.

Thank you for writing your recent review on Trip Advisor, it is always appreciated that guests take the time to review their stay.

I was obviously concerned to read your comments regarding the shortfalls in cleanliness, this has been passed to our Housekeeping Department to rectify and prevent this from happening in the future.

I would like to thank you for also commenting on the positive aspects of the hostel including breakfast, security and our common areas. As you mentioned we are and good choice for short City breaks. In my opinion we are number one choice for good, affordable accommodation in Glasgow City Centre.

I hope we can welcome you back to Euro Hostel Glasgow again in the very near future.

I've stayed in this hostel three times now, which must indicate something good about it! The location is unbeatable - a couple minutes walk from Central Station, about a 10 - 15 minute walk from Buchanan bus station, and very close to all the main streets, including the Carling Academy music venue, which a lot of people use the hostel for.

There's a big kitchen and dining area with a TV, a good recreational room with a pool table and another TV, and on the ground floor there is a bar with a pool table and jukebox that are free during the day.

However, I do have some noteable negatives. On my latest trip there, we were given a room with no soap (which they immediately gave us when we brought it to their attention, so no problems there), two power sockets with one not working (which wasn't really a problem) and a showerhead that was attached to the wall and impossible to move (now that really was annoying). However, I don't recall any of those problems from my other two trips, so I do put it down to a bad room... but then, should they really have any "bad rooms"?

My other two experiences were 100% enjoyable, and the most recent trip was satisfactory by all means. For the price and the very central location, you can't ask for much better.

  • Liked — The location and price.
  • Disliked — The shower on my latest trip, haha.

Thank you for writing your recent review on Trip Advisor, it was good to read that you were a returning guest after previous good experiences.

I was obviously concerned to read that your room had no soap on arrival but pleased this was resolved immediately when you pointed this out.

I have had the sockets in your room repaired by our maintenance team. The showers in most of our rooms have fixed heads, this is being addressed next year, hopefully, when we will look at refurbishing all our en-suite bathrooms.

Our location is very central and in walking distance to most attractions in Glasgow. Carling Academy is less than a 5 minutes walk. We are currently running a promotion for guests of Euro Hostel who are attending a gig in Glasgow at any venue including Carling Academy. It's simple to obtain a 15% discount by logging onto our website and following the gigs promotion page.

I hope we can welcome you back to Euro Hostel Glasgow again in the very near future.

This place was awesome. It was a huge hostel, right off central station in Glasgow, the very center of the city, close to everything. Huge common kitchen to cook in and great eating/hanging out area with tv and couches. breakfast was free in the morning until 10, and was unlimited toast and cereal and juice. sheets were changed every night, and was one of the cleanest hostels i've stayed in. basic dorm style with bunk beds and lockers for storage. sure the beds werent the most comfortable i've stayed in but they were still fine. overall a great experience! plus the bar downstairs was really cheap and reception was really helpful. perfect for college students like myself! i'd def stay there again if i went back

  • Liked — location, price, cleanliness, reception, bar, breakfast, luggage storage, people
  • Disliked — bathrooms could be a little cleaner - but they could always be cleaner!

Thank you for writing your recent review on Trip Advisor, it is much appreciated that you took the time to write such a positive review of your stay.

Our main company aim is to provide good quality, affordable accommodation in Glasgow City Centre. I was delighted that we did achieve this for you.

I noticed from your review that you are a student, If you are returning to Glasgow and require accommodation you should book direct on our website where we offer a massive 15% discount to students and people attending a gig in the city (subject to availability).

It's simply, just log onto our website and follow the guidelines for student and attending gig promotions, this discount is only available on our own website, you will not find it anywhere else.

I look forward to welcoming you back to Euro Hostel Glasgow in the near future.

The hostel is in an old converted 60s office block just north of the River Clyde, neighbouring what feels like a dodgy part of town. We forgoed the dorm rooms for a double room on the 6th floor. The décor was spartan and the bed horrifically uncomfortable – the springs in the mattress felt virtually exposed. The bathroom seemed unclean and the television cost GBP1 for 15 hours viewing or until switched off, together with a photo ID deposit for the remote control.
On the positive side it was cheap and central, continental breakfast was included, free wi-fi was available in the bar, and kitchen facilities were great (albeit locked after 2200.) On balance I am probably growing out of hostels, so would probably not stay here again.

Thank you for writing your review on Trip Advisor. Customer feedback is essential to me to improve future guest's experience.

I would like to first address the negative elements of your stay.

We are located in the City Centre of Glasgow. We have had no problems with our location in the past however I do appreciate that to guests who have never been to Glasgow the constant hustle and bustle in the city Centre may be intimidating but can reassure you that our location is in a prime location to everything.

The mattresses, as mentioned in previous responses, are being reviewed and replacement of these will take place.

Your comments regarding the bathroom have been passed to our Housekeeper and Maintenance for review.

I would like to thank you for the positive comments you provided on your review to highlight to future guests some of the excellent services we have to offer.

I believe hostels to be suitable for all people of all ages so I hope we can welcome you back soon.

Best Regards
