This place was awesome. It was a huge hostel, right off central station in Glasgow, the very center of the city, close to everything. Huge common kitchen to cook in and great eating/hanging out area with tv and couches. breakfast was free in the morning until 10, and was unlimited toast and cereal and juice. sheets were changed every night, and was one of the cleanest hostels i've stayed in. basic dorm style with bunk beds and lockers for storage. sure the beds werent the most comfortable i've stayed in but they were still fine. overall a great experience! plus the bar downstairs was really cheap and reception was really helpful. perfect for college students like myself! i'd def stay there again if i went back

  • Liked — location, price, cleanliness, reception, bar, breakfast, luggage storage, people
  • Disliked — bathrooms could be a little cleaner - but they could always be cleaner!

Thank you for writing your recent review on Trip Advisor, it is much appreciated that you took the time to write such a positive review of your stay.

Our main company aim is to provide good quality, affordable accommodation in Glasgow City Centre. I was delighted that we did achieve this for you.

I noticed from your review that you are a student, If you are returning to Glasgow and require accommodation you should book direct on our website where we offer a massive 15% discount to students and people attending a gig in the city (subject to availability).

It's simply, just log onto our website and follow the guidelines for student and attending gig promotions, this discount is only available on our own website, you will not find it anywhere else.

I look forward to welcoming you back to Euro Hostel Glasgow in the near future.

Best Regards

The hostel is in an old converted 60s office block just north of the River Clyde, neighbouring what feels like a dodgy part of town. We forgoed the dorm rooms for a double room on the 6th floor. The décor was spartan and the bed horrifically uncomfortable – the springs in the mattress felt virtually exposed. The bathroom seemed unclean and the television cost GBP1 for 15 hours viewing or until switched off, together with a photo ID deposit for the remote control.
On the positive side it was cheap and central, continental breakfast was included, free wi-fi was available in the bar, and kitchen facilities were great (albeit locked after 2200.) On balance I am probably growing out of hostels, so would probably not stay here again.

Thank you for writing your review on Trip Advisor. Customer feedback is essential to me to improve future guest's experience.

I would like to first address the negative elements of your stay.

We are located in the City Centre of Glasgow. We have had no problems with our location in the past however I do appreciate that to guests who have never been to Glasgow the constant hustle and bustle in the city Centre may be intimidating but can reassure you that our location is in a prime location to everything.

The mattresses, as mentioned in previous responses, are being reviewed and replacement of these will take place.

Your comments regarding the bathroom have been passed to our Housekeeper and Maintenance for review.

I would like to thank you for the positive comments you provided on your review to highlight to future guests some of the excellent services we have to offer.

I believe hostels to be suitable for all people of all ages so I hope we can welcome you back soon.

Best Regards

Hi, don't have so much to say.
Went there with my girlfriend booked a double room they didn't keep the reservation as they only had a twin available.
The girl at the reception said they can decide to give us a double or a twin...as they wish. ABSURD!
Too tired to search for other places, we got into the room.
Dirty place, noisy at night because of traffic jam and drunk men screaming.

Thank you for writing your brief review on Trip Advisor.

I am unable to investigate your booking as I have no record of your name or date of stay from your profile on Trip Advisor. However I would like to stress that if guests book a double room then a double room is assigned to them. I apologise that the member of staff you dealt with on arrival gave you the wrong information, we do not decide to give guests a twin or double.

Due to the nature of our location, City Centre, unfortunately we cannot control outside noise however internal noise can be dealt with by our Duty Manager, I am sorry this did not happen during your stay.

I hope we can welcome you back to Euro Hostel Galsgow in teh future.

Best Regards

I booked a party of 19 people into this Hostel for the recent football match between Scotland and Northern Ireland. I honestly thought the atmosphere in the hostel was unbeatable partly due to the fantastic bar 'osmosis' attached to it. The rooms provided adequate facilities such as beds, toilets and washing facilities and were perfect for the rest periods in between partying. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly and thanks to Vicky and James who were very hospitable in the bar. They even kindly escorted an eldery man in our party who was sleep walking during the night back to his room and then proceeded to give him a drink 'on the house' the next day. Its the small things which people really appreciate along with the personal touch and this place ticked all the right boxes.

All the BAD aspects of the above negative reviews are entirely true, and more.

The shower was completely ludicrous: water went all over the floor as soon as the shower was turned on, the shower head was pitifully outdated and generally malfunctioning The entire area behind the bathroom door was covered in short curly hairs (if you know what I mean), which were there for the entire time (who is cleaning this place?).

We stayed in 2 different rooms over 4 nights and both were as bad as the other. The mattresses had huge craters in them and the springs were unwelcomely lodged directly into our backs all night. The first night we were in a room with a double bed (we are a couple), but for the next 3 nights we were in bunk beds in a private room!! Who ever heard of a couple sleeping in bunks, hostel or not!

The card reader for the lifts in the foyer was seriously malfunctioning - the staff were obviously so used to seeing large crowds of people gathering outside the non-working lifts that they didn't once offer to help anyone work the card reader. I understand that the reception staff can't be running out from behind the desk every 2 minutes to help people with the lift, but if they just fixed/replaced the card reader, this wouldn't happen in the first place. (I notice at least one other review mentions this too...)

Breakfast was average - I advise you to avoid the juice on offer, unless you greatly enjoy the flavour of Vitamin C tablets, which is what all 3 flavours of juice tasted like.

The kitchen was grossly understocked - the owners need to pop down to Ikea and treat themselves to a few pots, pans utensils and cups. Hardly anything to cook with.

We couldn't wait to leave, and would never ever return - not even if it was free. That's another point - I thought the prices were a bit steep - then I arrived and saw the place! Much too expensive for what is on offer. They shouldn't be allowed to charge through the roof just because of their central location. Keep in mind I'm not comparing this to a hotel, only other hostels and general human decency and minimal conditions of existence. Disgusting.

Thank you for writing your review on Trip Advisor. As your review suggested it appears we have failed to deliver our normal high level of product and service to you. For this I sincerely apologise. We are constantly striving to improve our product by listening to our customer feedback.

I have spoken at length to our Housekeeper regarding your comments of cleanliness in the bathroom and action has been taken to avoid this in the future. We choose to have fixed shower head units due to the volume of guests using our hostel. I have also instructed our Maintenance team to check the water pressure of the room concerned, water should not be coming out of the shower onto the floor.

We have recently invested funds by replacing 75% of our mattresses; your room was not included in this investment however I will schedule this to be replaced.

Due to the nature of our business the majority of our rooms are bunk beds, which admittedly isn't ideal for couples hence the fact we are reviewing the number of double bedrooms we have.

Since your review was posted the lift card reader has in fact been replaced. The difficulty we have is the guests who choose to ignore the operating instruction notices regardless of how much signage we provide, this results in a build up of guests then having to wait. Again since your review the guest kitchen stock has bee replenished.

In normal circumstances I would invite guests with a review of your nature to return for a complimentary stay so the true service and product can be given. Your review states you would not return even for free, if you would re-consider then the offer would stand. I can be contacted by e-mailing gordona@euro-hostels.co.uk

In closing, we genuinely believe our prices to be reasonable for the product and service offered. We do not inflate our rates due to our location nor do we inflate our rates for any special events in the City. We believe in our product and price we offer.

I hope to receive an e-mail from you if you do consider a return visit.

Best Regards
