We have just returned from a weekend break at the Radisson and think it was great value for money all round - if a little functional.
Plus points = the central location, friendly and efficient staff, varied breakfast and stylish bar/cafe areas where you can have a drink at any time of day.

We got the best deal when we phoned the hotel direct and ask if breakfast could be included in the rate (£100 per night per room at weekends). Ask for a room on the higher floors as you can notice the traffic lower down. Only gripe was the hospitality items in the room was a bit mean and unexciting for a 5 star.

Radisson SAS Glasgow is obviously a good hotel, located very close to central station, within walking distance of many sites (George Square, Buchanan street, the Merchant city, the Lighthouse, ...).
Nice lobby with modern design, large room with a very comfortable bed, helpful and very kind staff.
However, like many chain hotels, there is no fantasy and you will not find the fun that might happen in smaller design hotels (such as a crowded lounge bar, special design, ect...)

Thanks for the feedback.

Sorry to hear you didn't find the place exciting and like a chain hotel. For the benefit of other readers, just a few little touches: some great art including the a full display of Peter Blake's "about Collage" exhibition (and he visits occasionally to talk about his art), works by Bruce Maclean and a super original 3-D by Patrick Hughes that catches most people's eye; Pentagram-designed restaurant, Graven Images Bar (winner of best bar design in 2003) all in a building that won best hotel at the European Hotel Design Awards in 2003; more than just your usual music, put together by our resident DJ, Frankie Higgins (Sub-Club et al); soon to come, free-play 9-foot pool table off the main bar; menus that are always a little different and always with a touch of humour; hospitality that made us Best Hotel at Visit Scotland's Thistle Awards 2005 ... we're far from perfect but chain hotel? aw c'mon!

Busy, buzzy bar at the beginning of January? I should be so lucky! They both have their moments and tonight (Sat 21 Jan), you couldn't move ...

This was my first stay in a Radisson, but a very pleasant surprise. The location is convenient for the centre of town, shops, road links, etc. The staff are excellent - friendly, helpful, and attentive. Design is interesting and the restaurants and bars are very fairly priced for a place of this standard.

Rooms are well appointed, excellent toiletries in the bathroom, and interesting layout (in the one we had), which makes it a little out of the ordinary.

I'd definately use it again, which is probably the best recommendation I can give. It's a very good advertisement for the Radisson name and an asset to the city.

I know the manager reads trip advisor, so I'll add: it would be useful to have a couple more hangers in the wardrobes.

Sorry, sorry, sorry about the hangers; there are meant to be loads of them (well, 12)!

As a brand of hotels, we have a real abhorrence of those "theft-proof" type of hangers and prefer the real thing which are so much easier to use. The down-side is people do lift them with their clothes - and I am the worst offender - and we can be a bit poor in replacing them.

As a result of your comments, we're having a blitz and we'll get better at this.

Many thanks.

We stayed at the Radisson for one night on Hogmanay. The rooms were large, very clean and modern. The staff are friendly and extremely helpful. My favourite thing was the breakfast, which can be brought to your room, for no extra charge, until 11am. Parking is available at the NCP, right next door. Take the ticket to the hotel, and you receive 24 hours parking for £5, rather than the usual £12. Look forward to staying there again.

We stayed for two nights with a baby and found the standard of rooms and friendliness of the staff to be excellent. A stylish, modern hotel with great facilities in a central location at a very reasonable price (for the UK). The hotel reccommends a qualified babysitting service (£20 for four hours) so you can take full advantage of the two restaurants and fabulous cocktail bar if you want to. No car park, but an NCP 200 yards away which costs £5 for 24 hours with an extra £2 for a valet to drop off and collect your car for you. My only criticism is that unless you know how this works it's not at all obvious - a doorman to advise and help with bags would be a good idea.

Thanks for the feedback.

We do have people on the door (vis. previous comments about Kenneth in his black kilt, now in the guise of Omar and Yemmy), so sorry they weren't around when you arrived.

The Glasgow one-way system isn't teh easiest if you don't know it, so, heading eastwards down Argyle Street from the M8, as soon as you see the big green façade of the hotel, follow the brown signs directing you to "Radisson SAS set down only".

Many thanks.
