After much research on Glasgow, I decided to book four nights at Langs Hotel. I must tell you first that it was the last week in December and over New Year's Eve. First and foremost, the staff at this hotel are exceptional, they work very hard, and are eager to make your stay enjoyable. I give the staff 5 stars. The rooms are all very nice, large by U.K./European standards. However, the beds are in definite need of upgrading (which I think the hotel is actually upgrading some of their rooms as we speak.)
Anyway, our bed had no padding and my wife could feel the springs, so we asked to have them put extra bedding on the bed since all the rooms were sold out and that made a slight improvement. I give the rooms 4 stars out of 5. Beautiful hardwood floors, slate tile, and very cool fixtures, plus a CD player and television (which only has four stations, which is kind of a bummer, but they have DVDs that you can rent at the front desk.)
Now, if you have extra money, spend it and book yourself in one of their larger rooms, especially if you're planning on spending much time there, they looked beautiful with large windows overlooking the street.
We also had their room service every morning. Keep in mind that when you say 7:00, they will be there five minutes ahead of schedule, they are very prompt!
The breakfast was fine, basically everything you need to get you started. I would have to say that the best thing about this hotel, aside from its exceptional staff, is the LOCATION. It is right in the heart of Glasgow across the street from the Royal Concert Hall and a movie theater with 20 screens and all of the great shops of Glasgow.
We did not have any problems with the comfort level of the rooms like some of the others noted. I did notice that there was a new A/C unit in our room as well as a wall heater which turns off and on with the switch of a button. Plus the windows open onto the street and you can watch all the people walking by, which is pretty fun, too.
So I would give this location a definite 5 stars. Oh, the bus and rail stations are within five minutes of the hotel, so you can take a bus right over to Edinburgh if you so desire. It is for all of these reasons that I give this hotel 4 stars out of 5. Great staff, very stylish rooms, and wonderful location.

Stayed here for 2 nights in early December having booked through eBookers.
The trip got off to a great start with a nice smooth, early 1000hrs check-in with a pleasant receptionist. We had just wanted them to look after our luggage, but we were allowed into our room straight away.
The room [418-at the rear of the hotel, overlooking a multi-storey car park], was comfortable, quiet and clean, with a spacious bathroom and an excellent and large multi-head shower cubicle. The only downside, was the discoloured grout in the cubicle, as mentioned by a previous reviewer.
The location of the hotel, adjacent to the Concert Hall and the Buchanan Galleries is ideal for music lovers and shoppers alike.
We also found the breakfasts to be above average with the choice of Continental or Traditional English being included in our rate of £90 per room per night. Graham, the head waiter in the morning, always seemed to have a pleasant word or two to say.
When we are next in Glasgow, I will certainly be re-booking Langs for our stay.

We spent last weekend in Glasgow visiting family and for some reason it was practically impossible to get 3 nights in a hotel. I later found out that there was a Science Exhibition at the SNCC and the Scottish BAFTA's at the City Halls. Anyway, we booked two nights in The Millenium on George Square and 1 night in The Langs. As a result I was able to compare and contrast these two 4 star hotels. I would say they are both as good as each other but that if you are looking for modern go to Langs and if you want something more traditional, opt for The Millenium.

Having read about the external noise problem in The Langs, we requested a quiet room at the back - which is what we got. The staff are extremely friendly and very helpful and the girl totally understood our need to have a room that didn't face front. We got a nice room on the 5th floor and it was lovely and quiet. I noticed that there was a complimentary pack of 3 earplugs in the drawer and wondered if the management had taken on board comments about the noise.

Rooms - purely a matter of personal taste. If you like modern rooms with wooden floor boards, swanky bathroom (with excellent shower) then you will adore it. I prefer traditional rooms offering a bit of comfort so i preferred the Millenium with it's carpeted rooms and lots of standards lamps. But whilst I didn't find the room in Langs as relaxing, the bed was REALLY excellent. We had a superking and the mattress was perfect. We both slept like logs.

Facilities- good. A good quality hair-dryer in the drawer! Safe etc in wardrobe. Good telly with more channels than other hotels.

Breakfast - Good, not as good as the Millenium but ok. Again, staff very friendly and attentive.

All in all a very good hotel. Location is excellent too - we had to get a bus to the airport and it was only a minute from hotel. Would stay there again.

Stayed with the wifey from 10/23 to 10/26.

Great location right next to the bus station so easy for arrival from airport and for day trips.

Great staff, friendly, efficient. They got us early check in at 930AM.

Only problem was the temperature. Rooms have individual Aircondition systems but temperature range is limited from 22-24 only. This makes it pretty warm at night so we had to open the windows and this made things fine.

Stayed 10/23 to 10/26 Room 212 across from Royan Cincert Hall on Killermont.

Room had airconditioner but lowest temp programmed was 22 degrees. I like it around 15 degrees at night so we had to open the windows.

Other than that the whole experience was great. Early check in at 930AM. Staff courteous and friendly.
