surprised to see this hotel received reviews saying it needed refurbishing, as i thought it was very modern and clean, as the hotel photos show!i stayed for 2 nights this april 2009, and really enjoyed my stay, and the staff were very friendly, and the location is ideal!the rooms were lovely, and bathrooms big and clean-perhaps it has been renovated recently, as didnt find it run down at all!highly recommend it!

Former reviews suggest this hotel is in need of a refurb, and I agree, it appears to be in a state of decline . The rooms have great furniture, are huge, and have good views of the city Centre, the location is brilliant, but it is in need of a refresh.

The furniture was tired, though bathroom was modern and in good condition, the breakfasts were disappointing, though plenty of choice, and it seems to get the odd stag or hen do running wild, as happened to us.

I wouldnt advise against staying here, but I most certainly think thr owners need to update the decor, look at the food available, and ensure that they manage their guests better.

This hotel is just OK, but I would not rate it as 4*. We stayed in one of the Executive rooms which was spacious, but furnished with tired furniture and old TV’s (one of which is in a wooden box on the end of the bed, and this one had no remote control which was inconvenient. An old lumpy mattress sits on a strange wooden platform, which is in the way. There was no fridge in the room. Housekeeping needs a bit more attention to detail, eg dusty armchairs in the bedroom, and dusty ledges in the bathroom. Breakfast was included in the room rate, but it was dreadful – we didn’t eat it. A buffet of cheap sausages, watery fatty bacon, and lumpy scrambled egg, none of it hot enough. Awful coffee and cheap bread. Don’t pay any extra for this experience! Location is good for Concert Halls and shopping, although it is very noisy, next to bus station and on a main road, so there was traffic and people shouting in the street all night long.

Well it started badly - booked a weekend and paid for it at that time, but on check-in the first thing they wanted to do was get my credit card from me so they could charge me again. The check-in clerk (Denis) was absolutely insistent that we hadn't paid, when I told him we had paid through Expedia he looked like he had never heard of them (this is somebody who works in the hotel industry we're talking about, remember). Showing him the printed itinery from Expedia (which confirmed "payment taken at time of booking") and he just didn't understand what I was showing him. Eventually got to speak to the manager (Billy) who was a bit more clued up, said we didn't owe them anything, and gave us the key to the room.

And fair enough, the room was nice. Big, with the bed on a mezzanine upstairs, and a wardrobe, desk, chair, sofa, TV, CD player, etc. downstairs, along with the bathroom. Bathroom was a good size, with a decent sized shower that had jets too - great!

As mentioned, the (very comfy) bed was upstairs on the mezzanine, with another wardrobe and a very small portable TV perched on a table that looked like it had been put there as an afterthought. Which gave it the feel of a cheap B&B, not a four-star hotel.

One reason we had to watch TV in bed is that the sofa for watching the big TV was filthy, dozens of stains on it (see photo accompanying this review), and as soon as you start thinking about where these might have come from you wouldn't want to sit on it either! This isn't just a case of housekeeping "overlooking" something, this is months, if not years, of neglecting their guests' rooms, of not being bothered.

As every other review also mentions, the hotel's location is aboslutely brilliant for the city centre. This also means it's in the heart of things when pubs & clubs chuck-out in the wee small hours. Which should be fine if the place is double-glazed, except that when the window was tight shut it still wasn't sealed (again, see photo). This room looks out over a busy road, with buses, cars, sirens, etc. at all times of the day and night - they really should have fixed this as I can't believe we were the first people to have noticed it.

Didn't eat in the hotel, so can't comment here.

This could be a great hotel, but is let down by an absence of thought and of care. Would I stay here again? Of course not! As an exiled Glaswegian I visit the city several times every year, and there are plenty of better hotels better than this one to pick from.

The Park Inn is the best hotel I've ever visited in Britain. It's marvellous. The rooms were very comfortable, the bed was lovely and it was all meticulously clean. The bathroom was great. The bar and restaurant are very smart and it's in a fantastic location, very near Buchanan St., right behind the Concert Hall and just a short walk from the Underground station.

Admittedly, I couldn't afford to stay there very often but you get what you pay for. It''s a great hotel that I would recommend to anyone.
