Stayed here for four nights. It was grand but nothing special. When I rang prices were more than quoted on the web. Did a "deal" of sorts. Breakfast was poor. Accomodation was passable. V old and worn rooms. Tiny bathroom with skummy shower unit. It is far from immaculate as described on the web and i certainly didn't recognise my bedroom when i got there.

Would do for the solo traveller who isn't v fussy but otherwise would give it a miss. I know it's expensive to stay in Glasgow but probably best to pay a little more and avoid this place. Also, a good 15mins to city centre as located towards the end of Sauchiehall St.

This hotel is ran by friendly staff who are happy to ring taxis and give you directions etc. The rooms are basic and ours did smell of dampness at bit. The shower also has a lot of mildew which made the bathroom look grottier than it probably was!

Overall cheap and cheerful for an overnight stay.

Charing Cross was a basic place to spend your nights in Glasgow. Quite OK, nothing special. The quest house premises are a bit worn. No common lounge for visitors. Walking distance to the Buchanan bus station and to the shopping centers. Price matches the quality.

While initially the room seemed nice, we discovered the bathroom to be filthy (the floor hadn't been cleaned, there were long black hairs all over, and dirt and crud throughout)--but the worst of it was pulling back the bedding to discover the sheets hadn't been changed (and you don't want to know what we found to come to that conclusion). I went down to the desk, and waited for the fellow to finish his phone call (not in a big hurry to assist me) and said the sheets were dirty and I needed new sheets. He handed me one flat sheet. We pulled a clean sheet off an additional twin bed and felt creepy all night in this room. The next morning, after a horrible breakfast, I explained the situation to the woman at the desk. Her response was very snotty--she replied that she was sure they'd been changed, as she had done it herself. When I pointed out what we'd found, she refused to believe us. I would not only never stay here again, but I would advise anyone else to avoid this place as well.

I visited Glasgow for two nights in July of 2003. Rate was very reasonable. Room was not the most appealing old, dingy, but not dirty. Bathrooms and shower were clean. Neighborhood not very attractive. However to the left of the property and over the freeway is the University of Glasgow and all that a University brings----good stuff. Out the doorway and to the right and within walking distance is much of what most people come to visit in Glasgow. If you only need a cheap place to sleep Charing House was fine.
