“Fabulous stay in a City Centre Hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 15, 2012

We booked in to the Menzies Glasgow hotel for a two night stay. Five star standard but not five star prices.
Our room was large and comfortable with a huge bed and comfy chairs, sofa and coffee table. Complimentary bottled water was provided.
We had lunch one day and dinner the other in the hotel and enjoyed both very much.Breakfast on both occasions was FAB! What a selection and great service.
The spa facilities are wonderful and the staff here and throughout the hotel could not have been more helpful.
Our friends booked one of the loft apartments in the hotel and have been enthusing about it ever since.
This is a good value hotel, ideally situated for both the city centre and the SSEC.
We look forward to returning next month when we return to Glasgow for a wedding.

I stayed for a weekend in November with my boyfriend, we'd booked one night through otel.com (not a scam by the way, I was worried it was) and we decided to stay an extra night, which was easily handled by the staff although it was a bit hard to get through on the phone, it was often busy.
We were expecting it to be decent from photos but it was even nicer than expected. The reception was cosy & check in was fast. We had a room at the end of the corridor, I think it was on the corner of the building so bigger than usual. AMAZING massive & comfy bed, really clean & spacious room. The bathroom was clean too and towels were changed in the morning, even the toiletries were topped up even though we'd only opened one soap, they were nice quality too.
The pool area was also really clean & nicely lit at dusk time so it was relaxing. They provided you with towels too.
It's in a good location, sure google maps said a 15 minute walk from the station but its literally straight down the road and seemed more like 5-8mins walk max. It's not far from the SECC venue too which was the reason we were staying.
Overall a really nice hotel, such good value for what you pay for and being right in the centre, I'd definitely stay there again, I was actually sad to leave!

Having stayed in this particular hotel a few times over the past five years I have to say that the standards both in cleanliness and service are slipping.

The rooms and bathrooms in particular and showing signs of tiredness. The service in the bar was terrible, only one bartender available at any given time and had to wait too long to get served.

The breakfast quality was good but spoiled by having cold plates which meant that by the time you got back to your table your breakfast was not hot.

On the whole the staff were good but I do think the hotel needs to up its act before I would consider going back as there are plenty other options nearer the centre of Glasgow

I only stayed one night, but it was quite comfortable and staff very friendly. I wish I had brought a swim suit as the pool looked very inviting. My room was very comfortable and clean but the treadmills in the gym seemed a bit tired, and the gym is cramped (but I am guessing most people don't care about that). Breakfast was good also.

Stayed at the Menzies hotel for a weekend with my 2 young grandkids, check in very efficient, and I was amazed to find the kids had their own check, where they filled in their own names , favourite colour and expectation of stay. They also receives goody bags, and a wrist band which entitled them to free tubs of ice cream each day. What a fantastic idea! This needless to say set the holiday off to a great start for the kids who were begging to stay for longer, Please stay just one more day was the chant when we were preparing to go home. And I should also say that the adults wanted to stay longer also. Parking is great just drive up to the automatic gates on the old unused school building opposite the hotel entrance, the gate open plenty of spaces, on leaving the hotel gives details of how to exit the automatic gates. Very reasonable parking charges.

Only stayed one night wished it had been longer. We were at Michael McIntyre show and decided to make a night of it. Used the spa when we arrived. It was very relaxing and if we had had more time I would have sat and read my book on one of the recliners at the side of the pool. As we were going to the SECC we didn't have a meal in hotel as the restaurant didn't open until 7. A quick walk to city centre and found nice place to eat called Kudos. After the show we walked back to the hotel 15/20 mins and sat in the lounge with relaxing drink. The hotel was very clean, modern and very comfortable. Breakfast was very nice but felt the food could have been a lot hotter but that's buffet breakfasts for you. Staff very pleasant and friendly. Would definitely return even though only stay 40 minutes away.

Room Tip: Higher floors have a better view.

2 night stay at the Menzies Glasgow was a fine experience. Decent sized room with comfy king sized bed, good sized bathroom with powerful hot shower. Sky TV inc sports, made this a fine room to relax. Air con was needed, and was rather noisy, but just a minor inconvenience.
Breakfast was good, plenty of options with prompt service. Would certainly stay here again. On a wider note, some of the corridors & decor could do with a bit of a freshen up.
