“Great Grosvenor”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 16, 2012

This hotel is lovely and has benefited from a well deserved refurb since my last visit a couple of years back.

Allocated parking is located on the top level of the multi storey next door above Waitrose, which is well signposted and costs a tenner for 24 hours.

Check-in was fast and efficient and the receptionist very pleasant. The public areas are decorated to a high standard and all appear welcoming. The hallways to the room are immaculately clean and nicely kitted out with the room itself exactly the same. Modern bathroom with excellent shower, large flat screen tv on the wall which makes a good use of the space and there was a decent sized wardrobe with iron etc and very comfortable bed. No air con but secondary glazed windows so was easy to open that to let some air in.

The location is ideal for the west end with Ashton Lane only a few minutes walk and we were attending a gig at Oran Mor and the hotel is literally across the road. We went into town later and at only £6 each way in a taxi - you cant complain at that. We will definitely visit this hotel again.

I was a bit disappointed by the Hilton experience here in Grosvenor. I have stayed in another Glasgow Hilton and found it far better on a number of fronts. I predicate that by stating this one was less expensive from memory.

The staff I found not particularly friendly or helpful, particularly as I enquired about gym usage and local amenities. There is no fitness centre which is disappointing. The rooms were clean but fairly basic. I had a room towards the front corner and I was woken a number of times by fire engines or such and there was a lot of traffic noise in general.

A positive was that the city centre is easily accessible and the location/ area is quite nice. The botanic gardens across the road are worth popping across too.

Would not recommend personally.

Room Tip: It might be worth getting a room on the upper floor to the front for views over the gardens but mayb...

My wife and I arrived for a one night stay to be informed that my wife had been selected as the Hilton guest of the day which meant our room was upgraded, a free cocktail in the bar and free breakfast! We had stayed in the hotel before and found the hotel excellent, but this was an unexpected bonus. The hotel is situated in a very lively part of Glasgow with plenty to do and only 5 minutes from the city centre by subway. The staff are extremely friendly and go out of their way to ensure you have a pleasant stay. We ate in the hotel 'Bovine" restaurant which was also excellent. We will definitely return.

My husband & I stayed whilst visiting family in the area in a deluxe double.
Check in was friendly & seamless. Room was lovely - tastefully decorated with complimentary water & chocs. Good selection of teas but never enough sugar in any hotels!
We parked at the rear of the hotel off Byres Road in the Waitrose multi storey which has allocated parking for hotel guests on the top floor through a barrier/ ticket machine.
Plenty of choice for brekkie & highly recommend in house restaurant Bo Vine - peppercorn sauce to die for. More draught beers & choice of still non alcoholic drinks would be nice.
Easy walking distance to Subway at Hillhead & Kelvingrove museum.

This hotel is our first choice when visiting Glasgow. It is perfectly positioned beside the Botanic Gardens in the West End, and subsidised parking is available across the laneway over the Waitrose supermarket, so not far from the hotel at all. We generally take a family room, which is generous in size with two comfortable double beds. In the past we have had problems with the pillows or sheets smelling strongly of cigarette smoke, either through former customers or through smoking laundry staff, but this seems to have improved since our last visit there a few weeks ago. The reception and breakfast staff are always cheerful and accommodating, and very professional. The breakfast buffet is large and well stocked, and they cater well for special diets without fuss, which is always appreciated.
