I haven't stayed at the Tulip Inn, but checked the reviews out of curiosity because it's next door to my home. I was concerned to read the reviews that state this is in an unsafe area and that people are being advised to take taxis for safety reasons. I am a 26 year old female and have lived next to the Tulip Inn for four years. I regularly walk to and from the city centre after dark and am confident about my safety when I do so. The route to town is safe, well-lit and well used by pedestrians. The Gorbals area has a bad reputation, but that is to do with a history that has been put behind it.

Stayed 2 nights at this hotel for business.

Was impressed with the cleanliness of the room and the bed was really comfortable, the facilities in the room were good.

I had dinner in the hotel both nights. The restaurant is just off the lobby but is open plan so it was quite cold and draughty and where I was seated, it felt quite open and I did feel a bit self conscious, the food also took a while to arrive on both nights and on one occasion the chips were cold.

I found the staff approachable, but not particularly helpful. I asked one of the people on reception for some directions and they said they did not know and offered no further help.

If you are looking for somewhere to stay where you can have a comfortable nights sleep, then this is a good place for that, but not if you want the personal touch.
